Reasonable steak, but massively over-priced for what it is. Pretentiously smooth-dark decor, indifferent service, who singularly failed to recommend a good wine. I guess I would just about say 'go' - if you're nearby and someone else is paying.

Love this place! Some of the best service I have had in London. Fab wine list too. You must try it. Great place for a date!

The signature beef dishes are good if pricey but you stray from their core menu at your peril. I made the mistake of ordering chorizo sausage at £7.50, and was presented with a single sausage (yes, that's right - ONE sausage) on a pathetic bed of mashed potato. The chef had even cut the thing in half, presumably to make it look more impressive. And it was cooked to leathery toughness too.
The Gaucho Grill does one thing and does it well, but a decent restaurant would be embarrassed to serve its customers in this way.

A well-priced steak which is amongst the best I've had? Surely, such a thing is almost paradoxical?
Apparently not - Gaucho Grill manages to offer sublime Argentinian beef (alongside equally delightful dishes, but let's be honest - noone comes here for the salad) at stunningly reasonable prices (~ £12 for a 225g ribeye). Steaks are cooked precisely as requested, and the accompaniments (you have to order these separately) are well-executed - fries are crispy and tasty, whilst mashed potato is lumpless and enjoyable.
The wine list is vast and covers an impressive array of Southern American vineyards. The wine tends to border on the pricey, but then when you're eating fine beef it is a travesty to accompany it with cheap plonk. Service is always very attentive and professional, whilst the decor and surroundings is buzzy and 'professional' but lacks the sterility of the eateries which well-heeled city-suits get lured in to. A wonderful venue for a quiet night out with your closest friends, a family meal, or even a raucous evening filled with bottles of good Malbec - Gaucho should definitely be on your list of options for most occasions.

The Gaucho does what its name suggests - serve excellent steaks. Not the best I've had in London but pretty damned good. Much bigger portions than the measly Sophie's Brasserie. The baked spuds are a must and spinach is obligatory as a side dish. You also must order the chocolate cake which is probably the most exciting thing I've eaten in a long time. One gripe - the bill! Eeek - I just couldn't figure how it came to over £130 for lunch but maybe I'm being a tadge tight fisted. Just think London eateries are putting huge mark ups on the most mundane items of food.

Banker for a client lunch/dinner. Very consistent place. If you like steak and red wine it's hard to beat. Cocktails not bad either.

Dinner for six guys on a Thursday night and from our experience Gaucho is usually the place to go. Veterans of the Gaucho experience this was the first trip to Chancery Lane for many of us. This is a review specifically regarding the Chancery Lane branch which we all agreed was not up to the usual standard. First of all most of the restaurant looks like a dimly lit All Bar One. There's minimal ambiance. The wines we requested were not in and the suggestion by the hostess was okay. The real issue was that it took our meals over 45 minutes to arrive. This was blamed on the 950g rump that was ordered medium-rare. Hmmm...how about another breadbasket while we're starving over here? Another request was for a side of Yuka but they were out of that as well. And for dessert they could only muster up one cheese platter...as you guessed it they were out of cheese. All in all Gaucho is great but Chancery Lane could be given a miss. Though the steaks did live up to the Gaucho name and were fantastic.

I had dinner here recently. The steaks and wine were good. My only gripe is that there is not a non-smoking section in this restaurant. We were sat next to a group of smokers and I did not enjoy the smell of smoke while eating my expensive steak!
