I have just got back from lunch, having entertained a CIO and I am delighted to say that we had a great time. The fish was suberp, as was the steak, perfectly cooked and served up in time. All in all, the food and atmosphere was a delight. There's no doubt that the food here, whilst good, is very expensive - Dover Sole being retailed at £35!

Really enjoyable. Wasn't expecting that much as it looked quite pricey and right next to Liverpool St. But the food was well cooked, well presented, and tasted fantastic. A set dinner menu made the evening pretty reasonable on the wallet too. Not too busy but there was a nice welcome and quick, friendly service.

Only down point for me was the big wine list which always makes me feel a bit uneducated. But the waiter picked and got it right.

Lovely night.

I've eaten at Gow's a few times before as it's right next to Liverpool St station and handy to stumble from after a few bottles of vino but my trip there last Wednesday night was the best yet. It's normally pretty quiet in the evening but they have started a new set menu which is obviously drawing in the crowds as it was busy with a lively atmosphere.

2 of us had the set menu which was fantastic value at £19 for 3 courses - food of the same quality and taste as the a la carte. I had grilled sardines with watercress sauce to start which were filleted and tasted great, poached haddock and egg for mains and finished off with a gorgeous chocolate cheesecake.

They do meat and veggie too - my fiend had confit duck leg.

I cannot praise the meal enough, and we had a couple of lovely bottles of wine recommended by the waiter, who was a star all evening and made us feel very welcome (even though we were dawdling over coffee).

To pay the money we did for such excellent food in the City is a bargain and this is one restaurant I would recommend to anyone.

Went here on my Girlfriend's Birthday...starters were good and very tasty although I was kind of disappointed with the size of my lobster as my main. Had dinner here on a Friday and the place was not busy at all(only 4 people in the restaurant) ..despite this I still enjoyed my meal although it is a bit on the pricey side...what do you expect?? Heart of London afterall!

Very impressed with Gow's. The food is excellent and if you're a seafood lover it's a great place to visit. The ambience is nice with a quiet, dignified air. Service wise it is very good indeed - the staff are friendly and attentive. Price wise, it is good value for money. I can really recommend it.

I use Gow's quite a bit for business lunches and I speak well of it. It's a fish restaurant but caters well for carnivores and veggies. The food is good and hot, it's well presented and if you want your fish just grilled they can do it properly. Buying is excellent - the piece of organic salmon I ate here about 18 months ago was/is truly memorable - and there is enough inventiveness on the menu to ensure a different menu every time with some real surprise (Crab Pudding was a notable success). The wine list, too, has been beefed up recently (there's a wine bar upstairs and I believe the whole enterprise is a Balls Bros operation).

It's not cheap - but this is a City lunch venue, as such it has two major things going for it: 1. it's consistent and 2. the staff pay attention and can get you out quickly
