Extremely nice! Went there with a friend last night. Service was great, atmosphere a bit quiet but welcoming - especially like the boardgames if you feel like playing Scrabble etc - great for a rainy evening!

Food was better than expected - my torteloni with cheese and tomato was really fantastic. My companion's burger was very nice indeed - only complaint was the chips - they had a slight air of oven chips about them - although couldn't be certain.

Desserts were better than expected - really lovely! Eton mess probably the best I've had, and my chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce was surprisingly treacly - unexpected and delicious.

If you're in the Waterloo area I really recommend this place. The food is much much better than that Young Vic place, and the service is a million times better!

Well what can I say... the steak was as succulent as a virgin's thigh! The sausage and mash gave me a tinkle down my spine like nothing I've ever felt before! I was told as a child to always 'live the dream' well now I am! I've just bought a flat above the restaurant just to get the sensational smells given off every evening. I love the feel of hot gravy so much last week I had a bath in the stuff!

The food is second to none. I can honestly say their fillet steak is the best I have ever tried, cooked to perfection. The prices are decent and the atmosphere warm and homely. It's bigger than it looks from the outside and I can't speak highly enough of it - you won't be disapointed!

Don't be fool by the outside and slightly out of the way location, this is a great place with a relaxed atmosphere and great food. My steak was melt in the mouth ....... was so tempted to kick back, order another couple of bottles and not go back to the office!

The Laughing Gravy is one of a kind in this city! The food is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced which is a rare thing in itself. The cured salmon with horseradish for starter and the bison steak for main was great! However, even harder to find elsewhere is the atmosphere, a feeling of being invited for dinner in someone’s private living room. And unlike most restaurants in London where the noise is often overwhelming, you will have no problems having normal conversation at the Laughing Gravy.

Excellent food and generous portions, unlike many retaurants with rave reviews from city press, I did not leave needing to seek out snack food o the journey home.

The venison was excellent, in no way over cooked, and my partner was delighted with her macroni and red leicester bake.

Can't understand the reviewers who don't think this place is fantastic. I live around the corner and though we try to go to eat out in as many different places as possible in London we often find ourselves back at 'the gravy' because we have yet to be disappointed with the food, service or ambience of the place.

They've recently changed the set up. You used to have to sit in the bar area if you wanted the cheaper food but you can now order from the bar snacks (now called light bites though really quite filling) and still sit in the posh bit if you like.

The staff are friendly, the food is excellent, the wine delicious and the whole place has a cosy atmosphere. Go there.

I ate at this restaurant a year ago, and was looking for a last minute place to dine just before Christmas. I was almost put off by the negative comments posted here, but decided to chance it. I was pleasantly surprised. We each had a starter and main, and found that what they did, they did well. The service, which I was skeptical about, was perfect, unintrusive but attentive. I'd return to this restaurant at any given chance, thoroughly enjoyed it!
