Meson Los Barriles (Lamb St)

Sadly Los Barriles closed on the 20th December - after 20 years of great Spanish food. Another victim of the Spitalfields Market management ramping up the rents. The place is becoming a desert with nothing but boring chain restaurants.

We had an informal Christmas Workds do last year at the restaurant and this year 2 of my colleagues have written to ask if we can go back to the "fantastic Tapas place in Spitalfields"

Little do they know I've been back several times in the last year, I love it! But suffice to say 10 months later it obviously left a long lasting impression with them that they've asked me to book it again! We're all looking forward to it.

I'm so impressed I found an authentic spanish restaurant. Forget about La Tasca or whatever attempt to recreate spanish food.

Food is just amazing. Staff is excellent and friendly and soooo spanish atmosphere.

A lovely place, clean., reasonably priced and excellent food. The staff were very pleasant and the food hot and scrumptious. Wine was reasonable £4 a glass and the tapas well worth the price. I would definitely visit this restaurant again as there was lots on the menu that I would love to try. But a must is the patatas in tomato sauce. They melted in the mouth. We went at 12 on a Sunday lunch time and it was quiet, but by the time we left an hour and a bit later, it was starting to fill up nicely. I'd like to visit in the evening as I think the atmosphere would be great

I really enjoy eating here when I am in London. The food is always good and the service is very friendly. I get a Spanish omlette, chorizo, the baby squid, some fish and a nice glass of wine at very afordable prices. I have going a couple times a year since 1999 before the market was renovated and have always enjoyed it.
