Jason Willis, unless your bill was no more than £20-30, then three cheers for your waiter! He's absolutely right to find a £3 tip insulting - you said yourself the service was good, so why not tip accordingly?
It is exactly people like you who are to blame for the overall poor service in London - you'll complain bitterly about the slightest thing, but won't reward good service.
I expect the staff at the Paris Grill aren't too upset at the prospect of you not returning.

Be prepared t leave a big tip.... I didn't and the old chap taking my card was extremely rude and told me the amount (£3) I had added to the bill was an insult and he wouldn't accept it. The food was great and the service upto that point was good too. Absolutely disgraceful and I will not be returning!

This restaurant has a disgraceful service!
but i must give you some credit to the delicious food served to me.
i only wish that the rude waiters and waitresses get taught a lesson on etiquette, as they were completely horrible to me. humph!!!
