I had just been out onto Hatton Gardens with my wife to be and we came across Potemkin at the end of the road, my wife being Russian wanted to try the cuisine to see if it was anything like the traditional Russian meals. once we walked through the doors we were greeted with warm smiles from the waiter who promptly found us a table. The starters were amazing, I had Mushroom Juliene which had jump started my taste buds, my wife had Aubergine caviar and she loved it. For main course she had suggested that we tried the lamb casserole and it was divine! By this poin i was getting quite full but the couple next to us had ordered dessert and it look and smelled wonderful. So I had to order Marlenka. A sweet piece of honey cake accompanied by vanilla ice cream. My wife's conclusion of the restaurant was that it has an impressive selection on vodka's, and the food was authentic and real to what Russian people enjoy. It is a must go!!

When I went to this restaurant, it has been cold, empty, soulless, and that was on a Saturday.

The food was nothing special, alchohol over priced and the coffee has been of a starbucks level. Well if you like that, you have your tastes.

There are much better restaurants around the same area.

Don't know if all Russian restaurants are this poor, but better to give this one a miss.

I went Last night with my Lithuanian Girlfriend for Valentines day. I had never been to Potemkin before, but had often passed it and thought this would be a good opportunity to try it out.

It was very easy to book a table (maybe not a great recomendation to start with), but once in overall we enjoyed ourselves.

The bar area to have your drinks before hand is welcoming, however the prices of wine and voka are on a par with the Vodka revolution bar..(expensive), so you may want to do your your pre or post drinking at the polish vodka bar down the road at Farringdon.

The menu was a special for Valentines day and priced reasonably at £35 per, which included 4 courses, a Vodka Cocktail to start, a Vodka Liquer with desert, tea or coffee to finish, and as much sepeciality bread with butter as you could eat (normal I was assuered by my partner for eastern european resturants)

My partner was initially sceptical, maybe because of her inherent suspiscion of all things Russian, but once the Cocktail came out,. beautifully presented, and the blini's and red caviar, she began to smile.

We followed this with the mixed smoked game with honey mustard pickle and fresh rasberries( very fresh), again great. After this I went for the red mullet, with creamed potatoes, and my partner for the pork. They were both tastey and very generous with the portions, (maybe they have taken the advice of earlier revues). It was finished off for me with the Rasberry Malikna (lovely) and a coffee and Liquer for my partner.

The only mar on the evening was only marred by the time it took for the coffee, but it was good when it turned up, and no where near the attrocious service we had had at Rembrants in Tooley Street, the week before where it had taken over 2 hours just to get a coffee!

It was very full, although not claustrophobically so, and a great evening. We will be returning again!

I went here the other night and I must say I was really disappointed.

We were the only customers downstairs so there was no atmosphere whatsoever. On the positive side of things the waitress was lovely and the decor nice.

I had aubergine cavier to start with, it was ok but quite bland. I then had the chicken marinated in tomato sauce and wine - the meat was succulent and tasty but to be honest it was nothing special and I was left wanting more. I thought everything was very overpriced, and the wine was awful. If you go here stick to the vodka!

This place would probably be ok on a busy night, but it just left me cold and unsatisfied.

One of the better Russian themed restaurants in UK.

And unlike many other Russian and Georgian restaurants, the food is CONSISTENTLY good and can almost touch my mother's standard of cooking, which is a big compliment as nobody cooks better than one's own mother :).

A decent decor and ambience make it just about the only restaurant of this cuisine type that you could take buisness contacts (or people who have not tried Russian before) to.

There is a nice bar on the ground floor allowing customers to just pop in for a drink, in addition to the main dining area downstairs.

The menu is sufficiently varied, but not mind boggling, allowing to go for either a dish closer to home, such as mushroom juliene and sizzling pork, or for more traditional (or exotic from an English perspective) food such as herring with pickles, borsh' and chinakhi.

The service is attentive and polite, however the waiter in the dining area would normally be sitting behind a desk, rendering some seating areas impossible to get the waiter's attention from visually, having to resort to either getting up to get in their view or raising your voice seemingly talking to no one...

Prices seemed fair, I don't recall the exact amounts, but the fact that neither the total bill, nor the individual item prices on the menu stood out in my memory, should serve as a good evidence of fair prcing.

Last Friday evening I went to "Potemkin" with my friends because we met for the first time since Moskow. We ate salad "Venegret", soup "Borsh", rissole with vegetables and apple cake and we drank Russian vodka. The food was very delicious and fantastic. The restaurant was wonderful and fun because we were listening to live music. Here the music was rhythmical and we were dancing. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff were very polite and the prices are reasonable. We had a good time.

We have visited the restaurant on 3rd of May. We all have concidered food to be good and tasty. I would not say outstanding, however serrvice was very attentive and helpfull.

The alcohol prices are extremely expencive which we found rather disappointing.

The taste of the food is OK, but slightly overpriced I would say. Vodka was good. I would love bigger portion, as it is really tiny for the price. I would describe service as not really outstanding, but reasonable.

Took my work team out and we all agreed this place is fantastic. the food is excelent! We ordered various dishes and everyone was happy with their own. I went for Sturgeon, delicious! Will deffinitelly go back. The restaurant is a failrly plush and on the quiet side, with some very low volume Russian music in the background. Would recomend if you want to try something different.

I have just had a wonderful time at the Potyamkin - I understand it means royalty ir Russia. I took advantage of the current promtional offer of £20.00 for a three course and was well thrilled to to be told that it also includes a shot of vodka! This is what i call adding value. Anyway, I had a fish dish - i think they called it mallet. It was absolutely delicious and really excellent value for the price. For dessert I had vodka with fruits- an absolute innovation. Looking through the menu, I felt it catered for all tastes and will definitely be recommending this eatery to all my workmates in the City.
