Ribon

Ribon always offers an extremely good eating experience. The staff are friendly, the chef as well as the waiting staff. The decor is very nice in fact, but I think the place has been decorated since some of the previous reviews.

The food is lovely, not the cheapest in town but worth the extra, and well worth the trip away from the West End to sample the food. I like the "Big Ben" set which offers a little of everything. Sashimi is well-presented and particularly tender.

There are some karaoke bars downstairs but I've not yet felt the urge!

I went there today to eat Sushi with my girlfriend. I must say that it was the best Sushi i've ever had. We both enjoyed it a lot. The only trouble I had was that I ordered a Salmon Roe and the waitress gave me a Salmon Roll.

This place looks like a dump, the food is good if you are a stuck up Japanese company employee but really it's not that nice. The prices are way too high but the owner is very helpful and I've seen worse. It has fallen down in standard. The best place was Noto as they served baby squid and octopus but that went and closed which was sad.

I have been here several times. It has undergone recent reconstruction so no more kitch pictures upstairs. In fact good for couples or a group of friends. The freshness/quality is amazing, the staff are very friendly and accomodating. I took the set menu but don't eat meat so it was substituted with generous portions of sashimi. Service is fast yet no pressure to pay the bill. Best japanese in town.

On a par with Asakusa as London's most authentic Japanese restaurant.

Sure, the décor may be dated, but I would say endearingly so {amid the oversaturation of slickly designed places like Bincho where you'll be force-fed a booming "funky house" soundtrack}.

The staff are mega-friendly, the food is reasonably priced, good & authentic.

The current 2-hour free Karaoke promotion (for groups of over 15 I think? - check their website) coupled with their tapas-style party-platters really make ribon an ideal location for any celebration.

I recently stumbled upon a brochure from ribon restaurant last week. It said they had started delivery. I was a bit worried at first not knowing what to think as i had not visited the restaurant before.

So i ordered the big ben. The delivery staff were very professional and well mannered which was surprising and I was practically shocked how fast they delivered the food.

Since than i have ordered quite often. Oh yeh! i nearly forgot, i have tried giving the delivery staff tips but they always say its ok and that they would rather i keep it and instead buy more often which is very kind and is a motto all companies should adopt.

P.S if your lucky you get free drinks. They also have a voucher system and so far i have been given 2 vouchers which gave me 20 pounds off my food which is great.

You guys have got to try it. Its Great!!

I went to Ribon for my 30th birthday last weekend. I booked it because of the reviews i'd read on this site. I looked-up the web site and the menu sounded perfect and although it didn't have any internal pics- i booked anyway.

The staff were really lovely and the food was excellent. HOWEVER we ordered various party food platters (more than was suggested for the number in the party) and there just wasn't enough food! The room that we were put in was also really shabby and could so easily have been made lovely, but just looked really grotty. This is probably why they don't include internal pics on the website.) The food in itself was fab- there just was not enough (especially considering that i'd ordered more than suggested).

We had a fab time in all and were very well looked after by the lovely staff, it's just a shame that the shabbiness of the room and the amount of food let the night down a bit.

Also, be careful to ask for a new karaoke system if you are including karaoke in your night, as the old systems don't have any modern (after 80's ish) songs on.

Although we had a good night, we probably won't be back unless the venue is done-up internally a bit. Shame.

Ribon is the favourite London restaurant for my wife and myself on our occasional evening visits to the Holborn area. We have visited it many many times, and can count on a wonderful personal welcome, Japanese food of the highest quality, very friendly service, and a good price. We have brought friends on several occasions, who have shared our opinion!

I had my friend's birthday party today!!! The service was top notch, very friendly atmosphere and the food was amazing!! Couldn't ask for more and worth every penny.
