Quite suprised at the bad reviews as go here at least a couple fo times a month. I work in the city and lunch regularly at top end restaurants. I always reccomend this place to colleagues and overseas visitors and they all thank me for the introduction!

I love Lemonia because it provides good honest wholesome food. There's always a good atmosphere. Service is good, sometimes hectic when the place is full to the brim. We wanted a table last Saturday but couldn't get in even from the Monday before so beware.

Some real gems on the wine list you too.

This is the 3rd time I visit Lemonia after many years and I think it has totally changed. The food was not great and the prices ridiculously high for what they offer. Very small tables and literaly having other people breathing on your food. Not a pleasant experience and not something I can recommend to anyone.

Been to Limonia a few times now, and I will go back. The staff are very good, they make you feel like a long lost friend. The food is above average with good fish and the favourite staples of Greek cuisine. The bill can creep on you- 50 pound a head should buy you a more salubrious dinner.

Who ever has read my other reviews know that I can be frightfully critical. However, on this page, I believe, Lemonia has had some unfair coverage. This place stands along side the other greats in Belsize Park/Camden/Primrose Hill area, such as the Italian Artigiano, the Spanish Tapeo tapas bistro and Maine Ices pizza and ice cream parlour.

There is a reason this place is always packed for the last 30 years. The mezas are always well done and the fish is always fresh. This place is good for the family outing or weekday dinner. Go for the sardines and tahini to start. And, for the mains take the fish which is done on the grill. I’ve tried but I hear the spring chicken is a good option for the mains.

Lemonia run by a bunch of old time Greek Cypriots run a good show. At £35 a head after service we were stuffed when we left.

A good restaurant for the casual meal.

Big shame, this restaurant is not what it used to be. It has become overpriced with very average food, small portions and absolutely no imagination. It is cramped, outdated not the most pleasant and certainly does not provide the Greek experience of food. Personally as a Greek I felt insulted with the quality of food and the prices but most of all I was insulted with their lack of imagination. There are a million and one dishes in the Greek cuisine why do they serve the same things they served 10 years ago?

It is a shame but I am not visiting again unless they change drastically what they do.

I've always though the food at Lemonia was very average but enjoyed going there for the great service and ambiance. I took my family there recently for dinner as it has always been excellent for groups but on this occasion, the service was rushed and unfriendly and the food was very sloppy. What a disappointing night for my family. I will not be going back - a shame because it is one of my local restaurants.

Cheese and Biscuits

Cheese and Biscuits - 4/10

Tuesday, June 28, 2011 - The taramasalata, fluffy and bright and actually tasting of nice fresh cod's roe instead of the weird pink goo you find in Tescos was fantastic...As for the main course, a mixed grill, I have rarely seen a more carelessly presented and unexciting looking plate of food. There was a single tiny lamb chop, cooked through to chewy grey, a couple of kebabs of bland lamb chunks and (admittedly surprisingly moist) cubed chicken, and finally a single miniscule blackened sausage rolling around at the side, looking like a burn victim's dismembered digit. Most of it was boring if just about edible, but the sausage was mealy and dry and packed with far too many herbs and vegetables, giving it a horrible sweaty feel in the mouth.

Gourmet Chick

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Monday, May 24, 2010 - Tiny terracotta bowls fill the table so there is almost no room for the wine and water. There is fish roe blended into a pale pink paste called tarama, creamy yoghurt and cucumber based zatziki, chunky chickpea heavy hommus and tahini, a smooth sesame paste. Alongside all of this there is hot mezze of halloumi that verges on being rubbery teamed with tiny spicy sausages and crisp deep fried squid...It's not polished food but the atmosphere is buzzing and Lemonia is perfect for a meal with a group of friends.

The World In 202 Meals

The World In 202 Meals

Saturday, August 29, 2009 - The hot mezes which followed were even better than the cold. Fried calamari was just right, neither too rubbery nor too crispy; grilled halloumi was also on just the right side of the rubbery/soft balance. There were spinach and feta pies, sausages, and yet another round of shrimp, this time fried...After an hour or so of eating we finally got onto the main course, with assorted chicken and lamb souvlaki, small lamb chops and a salad. Sadly the lamb was slightly overcooked and our tongues so drowned in the Cypriot red wine and the tastes from the previous courses that it was hard to tell the different flavours apart.
