Had dinner here last night and since I had been to another branch off Oxford Circus before I was quite looking forward to this, especially the Weeping Tiger Beef. The restaurant itself is very spacious and given that it was a hot day, the AC was a nice touch. If you sit in the back of the restaurant you can actually forget the busy Strand.

Now, on to the food. I am not sure whether they have changed the menu for all Thai Square restaurants but this was new to me but it looked pretty good. I had my heart set on the Weeping Tiger Beef and ordered it with some rice. My company had a Green Chicken Curry and a plate of Pad Thai. The Beef was a disappointment – the quality of the meat was average and it seems a completely different recipe all together. The Green Chicken Curry turned out to be far too hot but by all accounts the Pad Thai had a nice fresh taste to it.

The service was another letdown and apart from rounding up the bill a little we did not feel it merited a tip, although the food was served promptly. While eating we were not offered any more drinks, however, given that the curry was quite hot we could have done with more drinks.

Overall, I would not go there again, cannot recommend it all and just hope that my local Thai Square off Oxford Circus is still as good as I remember.

We ate there this weekend and were bitterly disappointed. I only tried this restaurant on the back of the good reviews from this website. However when we actually ate there, we were left feeling that we could have tried a much better place instead. We've sampled authentic Thai food in Thailand and also had a few decent meals throughout the UK, but this was by far the worst we've encountered. The starters arrived which were very greasy. We then had soup which despite asking for two different types arrived and were virtually identical apart from one had chicken and one had prawns!!, both of which were far too salty. Main courses arrived and were exactly like the starters - very greasy! We opted not to take the complimentary coffee / tea with the set meal, and didn't bother trying the deserts. Price was average for London. Would I go back - certainly not. Would I recommend it to anyone - not if you're looking for decent Thai cuisine, if you're looking for some average spicy food, then you may think it's alright. I'd much rather go back to the Blue Elephant which was head and shoulders above this place.

Visited this unassuming place out of pure chance whilst walking past. Wasn't expecting too much. Ordered dimsum starter which was very tasty and duck curry which was superb and blew my mouth off. My friends meals were also very good. The service was absolutely excellent and I would have no problem recommending this restaurant. Looks like the restaurant improved vastly around april 2007! Will defo be going back.

I went to Thai Square for having a dinner with my boyfriend on last Saturday night. The restaurant was a bit busy but still had a very nice atmosphere. I could select where I would like to sit.

Moreover, the sevice was great as well as all staff were nice and friendly. They also recommended thai special dishes to us. We had two bottles of wine and very big meal on that night. The food was excellent and great value for money.

I strongly recommend this thai restaurant and will come back again.

i went there with a big group of ten. I had never been there before but i heard from friends the food and service were excellent . After finishing dinner, I agreeed with them. We shared main dishes , so i could tried a lot of new Thai dishes .All dishes were delicious, especially Green Curry and Grilled King Prawns. Waitress were so nice and friendly . They smiled to us when we were wating for a table.Although the restaurant was a bit busy, they still took care of us very well and they also checked if our food came completely. Besides, the atmosphere was comfortable because of furniture and lights. I think i will be back again because I really impressed. I asked for a business card before I left to make sure I could book a table before getting there !

I went to Thai Square for dinner party last week with around 10 of my friends. The food was excellent, especially the green curry and good value for money as well.

The service was great. All staff were nice, friendly and smile all the time, although the restaurant was busy. We had a great time with a great food.

If you want to have some great Thai food, I strongly recommend to go to this restaurant. I'm sure that I will go next time too.

My wife and I were asked where we would like to sit and told the staff away from the front door as it was 2C outside, and dispite the restaurant being empty were told to sit at the front.

We ignored their pushy waitress and went to the rear of the restaurant.

We ordered the platter, which was ok but nothing special for the supposed 'Best thai in UK as voted by the Thai government'

The main course was again just average, pad thai and red curry. The red curry had far too much oil, so much so that it was clearl visible about the sauce.

My wife asked for a slice of lime, and after 5 minutes the waitress provided slices of lemons. We said sorry we asked for lime, and in reply she answered 'isnt it the same thing?' Both my wife the couple next to us and I nearly burst out in laughter!

She took the lemons back and once again bought them to our table saying 'thats all we got, we you like them?'

On our way out of the restaurant I asked the manager if they had any limes, he answered no we do not use limes.

So to summarise, if you want authentic Thai that do use limes (like 99% of normal restaurants) do not visit Thai Sqaure.

ps They think lipton tea is green tea!

My companion had the duck curry which was highly praised. Good selection of stuff for the omnivores. We had no problem at all with the service.

Unlike the branch in Islington, the vegetarian selection here is much smaller. The tofu was overcooked and frazzled, the vegetables were good but the sauce a bit bland and the broccoli in ginger tasted suspiciously fishy...
