Vertigo 42
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I have visited Vertigo 42 many times previously, but my visit this week was extremely disappointing. Standards have fallen considerably. Prices have risen dramatically, with the price of a bottle of house champagne rising over £10 in under a year and a very ordinary house champagne at that. The food was, frankly, awful. Gone was a pleasant plate of charcuterie, to be replaced by a plate of imaginatively titled "Ham"! Supposedly a selection of English hams, it was so cold, it was impossible to taste anything and both the breadsticks and the small white croutes, driselled with olive oil, were slightly stale. My companion's Mushroom Croute was also cold. The Maitre D was sullen, bordering on rude, the waiter tried his best, but with only two that we saw, run off his feet and we were kept waiting for our space, booked some weeks ago. I'm so sad to think that a lovely bar has deteriorated to this point.

The perfect place to start a night out or to impress.
The views are spectacular, the staff seem on the ball and the whole operation is very slick.
The food is okay and I would have to say overpriced but you are paying for the view.
The best thing is to simply come here with a few friends a just have a bottle of Champagne before going somewhere else for dinner.
Prices are high with house Champagne starting at about £50, but when you take in to account a trip on the London eye is about £12, here you can get great views as well as a glass of fizz. for the same price.
