The Artesian Well

This is a great place for a night out. Its fun the staff are friendly, even if the music is a bit too commercial, and best of all its not expesive...

I've been visiting this place for about 5 months now mostly on Friday's. Find it strange that its on this web site though as they don't serve any food there at all, (you can bring it if your having a private party) wonder if other reviewers are making up or just thinking of somewhere else??

My boyfriend organised a surprise birhtday party for me here.it was after work so he had ordered some 'dim sum' for 50 people for which he had to pay an extra £130. for this (after repeatedly asking the staff it arrived over an hour late) we got 3 dinner plates, one plate of lukewarm cocktail sausages, one plate of vegetarian spring rolls and a plate containg 6 'fish cakes' with what tasted like jam as a dipping sauce. we devoured them as we were by now ravenous having billed the event as having food but it was obvious they had forgotten and had just popped out to Iceland (though this gives Iceland a bad name!). To add insult to injury along with other broken promises which I won't go into here, they refused to show him the bar tab but charged him over £300 to bring it up to the reserve and they were incredibly rude. Truely the worst experience I have ever had anywhere.

The Artesian Well is without doubt my idea of hell....rude, obnoxious and uttery charmless punters made up of Antipodeans, Rugger Bugger twats and people who just don't have a clue. This bar features all that sums up a bad night out in Clapham, lurid decor, awful commercial chart pap radio one dance. The door staff are best described as "edgey" and unfriendly. I recently had to attend a birthday bash and endured an awful night in here dodging fights, bad drinks and inebriated idiots. From here on I will tell my friends I'm busy doing something else if ever invited to this bar again. Avoid. There are lots of other places to go out in Clapham....

One of the worst bars in Clapham. From the green mermaid statue on the wall outside, via the generally unpleasant clientele, to the overpoweringly loud music, this really is a place to be avoided.

I went to a private party in the Moody Room on Saturday night. Staff at the door, behind the bar, and serving food were ok. Drinks were good value for money. Food wasn't great, but the sort of standard oily snacks you'd expect to come complimentarily with a room hire. We had a DJ whose music was fine but rather too loud - not ideal for the sort of function it was, with many people who hadn't seen each other in a while, trying to catch up.

I'd probably go back again if I'm in the area, to see what other rooms are like.

The Artesian Well boasts several bars with colourful designs and interesting lighting. That is where the complements end. Such potential is completely wasted. The staff are sullen and have no idea how to make a drink. On Fridays the restaurant is closed, and the only food available is deep frozen to deep fat fryer snacks. The background music is uninspiring noise, pitched at a level requiring you to shout to make yourself heard. In short, an awful night out - a completely waste of time and money. Steer clear.
