Dalchini is great. Not sure what everyone here is going on about. If you like Indian-Chinese food, this is the only place to go to. Its very authentic, they will also make any special dishes you request (like Gobi Manchurian, Kung Pao veggies). My spouse and I travel many many miles to eat here and pack a number of dishes as takeaway for the next meal (because of the distance we cant go as often as we like).

Dalchini. I think was the worst restaurant I went to today. It was Eid I took my family out there for something different, and after having the one in Norbury,London, I thought it was going to be alright. It was in fact terrible. The service was rubbish to say the least and after having the starters we left.
The bill for 5 people with starters was just £50, in which there was no compensation for the uncooked food, and horrible food.
My father is chef in a restaurant, and his response was that he never knew that such a restaurant would ever have returning customers.
I will never forget the distaste of the food, and hakka chinese is what it is called, but rather awful chinese sounds like a better name.
Do not waste your money and time to go there.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived and although we did not have a reservation that was not a problem. The service was fast and efficient but that is as much as I can say in a positive note about this restaurant as for me the most important feature of a restaurant is its food.
I ordered from the specials menu the vegetarian dish, my boyfriend ordered the chicken with black bean sauce as well as some egg fried rice and noodles as side dishes. It took no more than 8 min for all the food to come, and I am not exaggerating. The quality of the food was horrendous, it was pretty clear that it was cooked a few days ago and reheated in the microway. It was bland, gooey, synthetic, and flavourless, the black bean sauce tasted as if it came from a packet.
All in all a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend it to anyone. I would never go to that restaurant again. It is worse than any bad chinese take away that we have ordered from.

I went to the restaurant with my partner for a romantic dinner after trusting the five star reviews. Was hoping to try the ostensibly "Indian chinese" style of cooking that the restaurant purported to specialise in. It was an absolute disappointment! Even after making a reservation, the table provided was in the middle of heavy traffic of waiters. They didn't change the table even upon request although most of the restaurant was empty until we finished our meal. The entrance to the restaurant was shady. The decor was simply average. It looked a lot smaller and less bright then it looked in the pics on the Internet! The food was average at best! You could have 10 times better food in a roadside takeaway for one-third the price! We couldn't finish even a single dish that we ordered. The restaurant was grossly overpriced! A two-course meal with soft drinks came to about £45! To add insult to the injury they add a 10% service charge to the bill. Although they mark it as optional, they don't provide a total before adding the tips - which in a way forces the customers to fork out a tip! No way do they deserve a 10% service charge, given the highly overpriced but tasteless food, average service (even bad service considering our request for table change wasn't met) and shady decor. The cutlery they use is from Ikea for godsake! Overall, an average but highly overpriced restaurant. Avoid at all cost. You will get a lot better value for money in a Wagamama at the same, or even cheaper price! Maybe their lunch offer of set menus maybe a better value for money, but definitely not the dinner service.

The food is always special. If you like your food spicy though you may have to request that it is made extra spicy!
We go in for the earlybird menu which is cheap and filling.

I gave a very good review of this restaurant in October 2007.
I have since visited it three or four times and unfortunately I can no longer give the same high rating.
I think some of the key staff members (chef perhaps) or even owners have changed, but something is missing.
To be fair it is still pretty good for the price and the area and you now get what you'd expect. It used to be outstanding and I was almost always surprised.
