Great restaurant.
Atmosphere is always good, the service is friendly and on the ball, but most importantly the food is right on point, full of flavour, right spice, right authenticity, all together, this is a brilliant dining experience.
The management really cares, and the staff are sincere. i couldnt recommend it enough to the hungry londoner!
Definately!

One of the best indian restaurants in town. good size portions. great for small gatherings and birthdays. VERY tasty food and great, relaxed atmosphere.
Tasty, inexpensive, authentic, and friendly... will always be one of my favourites... and it's certainly not in a dangerous part of town!

Hmmm... a pretty average Indian restaurant.
They always say you can tell how good a place is by its clientele. Well this Indian resturant had no diners of Indian descent. The place was full of 30 something British yuppies.
The curry sauces mostly tasted like they had come from a jar. And there was very little meat in any of the curries. Starters consisted of a collection of deep fried curry balls.
The restaurant is in a very sketchy part of town. I would not recommend walking there alone at night.
For Vauxhall this is probably a good dining option but compared to other Indian resturants In London this is quite poor.

I've been to Hot Stuff around 10 times over a 2 year period.
The food is usually pretty good. Service varies quite a bit -- sometimes the staff are nice and friendly, other times they pretty much ignore you and it's hard to get served or requests are forgotten.
I agree with the previous comments re prices -- they have crept upwards quite a bit and they do seem to be rather random (I've been charged significantly different prices when ordering the same items). I've never been given a receipt so it's difficult to tell how they've arrived at the final price.
I'll keep going as locally there's no other BYO restaurants except the Bonnington Square vegetarian restaurant (which I thoroughly recommend). And the atmosphere is pretty good on weekends.

Having read the great reviews on the internet we thought we'd better try this place.
First impressions were that the restaurant is very small and cramped...essentially just a few tables in a take-away shop, but this didn't matter as we were there for the food.
The food was certainly tasty. It didn't have the large quantities of oil which can ruin curries (in my opinion), and it was very fresh with simple flavours. However, for £14 a head for a two course meal (no drinks), it could have been better. Specifically, the two meat curries we had contained hardly any meat (chicken curry had just 4 pieces of chicken!) and were mainly sauce.
I eat out in London quite frequently, and with all the BOGOF vouchers and discounts available at the moment, we did feel this was a bit overpriced for what we received.

hot stuff is and always will be a memorable place.
when a special occasion is on the cards we all go to hot stuff. why? it's owned by a friendly always smiling Raj who is the coolest restaurant owner i've met. the chefs in the back care for their food and serve it beautifully.
The food is tasty with a capital T and the cost is always very reasonable.
The decors simple, the shared family table experience is never a worry and if you fancy listening to your own music, bring a cd along. it's great.
We provide our own assortment of wines, champagnes, beers and cider so no extortionate bills for drinks. Raj provides the food to go with it and the experience.
if we weren't based in W London, we'd also be one of those regulars.
Hope to see you soon Raj & Hot Stuff

Go to Hot Stuff all the time, very reasonable and very good. If you're expecting Tamarind or Benares then you're going to be disappointed but its certainly better than Brick Lane and its ilk. The best way to describe Hot Stuff is its like the French Bistro of Indian food - good ingredients, simple combinations, first class cooking. So you end up with a great, unpretentious Indian meal that deomnstrates a wide variety of flavours and textures.
Go in, grab a seat and let Raj order for you. You will not be disappointed. On a more personal note, Raj is a legend and despite all my friends getting drunk and shouting for the last third of the meal he's always great fun and the perfect host.
You cannot have a better meal out in london for the price and it knocks the socks off many places I've been to that charge three times as much. I'm going tonight. for my birthday. Can't wait.

Can I admit to being a bit disappointed after reading all the rave reviews? We had chilli prawns, saag ghost, chicken aloo, masala fish and makhini dhal, rice and bread and everything was fine but nothing was really stand out. The dahl tasted of evaporated milk (which I actually like!) and the fish and chicken dishes were a bit on the bland side. The place was packed, loads of atmosphere and the staff are fab but in my opinion the food was no better than lots of other places but certainly no worse. I guess if I'd only eaten chicken tikka masala in a flocked wallpaper establishment then I would have been more impressed but there are a good handful of places in Tooting which would give this place a run for its money.

Went the other night for the first time having heard all the rave reviews. Wasn't disappointed! Chilli Paneer was top, all the veggie stuff the waiter selected for me was great. Bought too many beers and the owner said he would buy some back from us. I'll be going back on a regular basis. I now have three favourite indian restaurants in London. Hot Stuff, Kastoori and Vijaya Krishna.

I absolutely adore this place! I used to live close by and went all the time. I have now moved further south now but still make regular trips. Even thinking about the chili paneer makes my mouth water. My favourite restaurant in the world!
