We ate at Konnigans last night and two of us had the special menu which was disappointing. The soup was very watery and lacked any real taste and the meat was extremely fatty.

That said, our friend had the ribs for main and she commented on the generous portion size and taste. Her starter was a salad which was tasty but not worth the price.

It was our first visit to Konnigans and we may give it one more try, but would avoid the special menu.

The place was busy, which we thought was good sign despite our disappointing meal.

The best part of the meal was the bannoffee pie, which appeared home made, but either way it was massively unhealthy and very nice!

The food is wonderful and given in a generous portion however it took too long long to order and even get drinks, the staff just seemed to walk straight passed us. also the toliets are never seen to, twice i've been in there, there was no toliet paper

We stumbled upon Konnigans today after a walk and with surrounding pubs completely full. All I can say is that the staff were great and because we are wary of restaurants with long menus we ordered lightly. Hot chocolate for my 2 year old was very, very good; I had most of it. Chips were excellent, hot, crispy and fluffy. My prawn and crayfish cocktail was excellent with what appeared to be crushed lemongrass added to the traditional Marie Rose sauce. We'll definitely return and order more extensively.

We thought we would try something different by going to Konnigans, usually we go to their sister place - Riverpoint as its on the river. We had a great night and I am suprised to see there is a bad review on here, we loved it !! I had the soup for starters and it was deliciious. I then had the lamb shank and my friend had the fish pie, which looked really nice. We had a nice wine and the final bill was reasonable. We found the service friendly but not intrusive. We'll definitely be going back!

My friend and I went there last night for dinner. The food was very average to say and the service that it came with was appalling.

The menu was taken away from us without order being taken. We were randomly served by 2 different people which lead to too many same quesitons asked twice, even three times at one point.

While ordering the meals we were refused to order wine at the same time, being told wine order will be taken in a moment which of course never happened.

The main course, I had was good however, 5 min after we put our order in, the waitress came back and insisted we made side orders with BOTH dishes, dispite the fact neither one of the meals needed them.

In the end, a £22 bottle of wine was added onto our bill without any apparent reason, which was then taken off.

The atmosphere was really good, the venue is beautiful, however the tables are too close to each other.

Due to the poor service, I have no intention of ever going back.

Have been going to konnigans for about 8 years , the fact its actually been there 12 years speaks volumes , yes over that time period there have been not so good times , or food or service but really , for a neighborhood site , its great . It is not pretentious , it doesnt try to be , the food is always a mix of old favorites and new ideas , its quite a big site so speed can be affected , but like any restaurant , if all customers book for 8pm , its cant keep up ! The last meal was spot on, we shared 3 starters between 4 of us and with bread , it was just right , for mains we had rib eye , lamb shank , pasta and fajitas , dont know too many operations restaurants or gastro that could provide that mix . All tasty and all good , for dessert we had 2 pudsand a cheese board to share . Service was spot on , efficient and informative when we asked about things , its not expensive so really dont think anyone should go with dreams of haute cuisine , the food is "simply good " , service great and location and style , totally there . One of our favorite restaurants in London , and as they are about to celebrate their 500,000 customer as we were told , then others seem to think so too !

We have had the special set lunch at Konnigans about 10 times over the years (usually on our wedding anniversary) and have been delighted, having just been again recently, I have to say that on the last two occasions the food has been brilliant.

this time we did not go for the set menu as my wife made me push the boat out so I had the steak and my wife the salmon which was wondeful, desserts were very good indeed.

There is no doubting that eating here is a great experience and the set lunch is exceptional value at just under £15 per person excluding wine, water and coffee.

The menu although large offers enough for most tastes.

We had a good time and we leaving that we had been treated like royalty, which is fun when you are an ordinary person, and it seems not to have lost that special touch

Konnigans looks a great venue and the staff are pleasant but the food is terrible. I am a local and have tried to eat here twice but unfortunately both times i have had bad meals. First time i chose the risotto which was swimming in oil and the rice was hard. The second time I opted for the haddock from the specials menu, the fish was raw in the middle and i had to send it back and it came back to me half the portion. I should not have had to pay for my meal or at least half of it as that's what i received but all i was offered was not to be charged service!

Also we asked for bread and olives to start, the olives were the cheap ones from the supermarket and they were served in a very clinical looking cheap metal bowl along with some cheap balsamic vinegar and oil in another cheap metal bowl, this seemed in keeping however with their cheap nasty looking cutlery.

There will not be a third visit!
