Nikson's has now shut. It's due to re-open as a 'pub and dining room' called The Bolingbroke.

Having worked in the industry for many years I often have a reoccurring dream that I am working in the kitchen, the restaurant is full of customers, but no matter how hard I try no food is not coming out of the kitchen.I get the impression the kitchen staff at Niksons must experience this every night.

Our group of 10 on a Saturady night had to wait 80 minutes before we saw any food! The restaurant manager did his best ease the pain by offering free bottles of wine and the waiter went one better by pouring it over one of the customers trousers. Even though it was one of the most painful experiences I've had in eating out we all had a good time probably due to the amount of wine that was consumed in waiting for our meal and the understanding of the management and excellent atmosphere of the place.

We've eaten at Niksons twice, the first time was great and the second was just ok. They do have a nice wine list and the bartender can make a good Cosmo. It has nice atmosphere. All in all an enjoyable experience, we'll be back.

Great bar, not convinced by credentials as a restaurant though...

Had some great evenings here in the bar - they have excellent live music acts at weekends and a great atmosphere but eaten here twice recently and not been overly impressed.

A weekday evening meal wasn't bad, but just gastro-pub food really and expensive for what it is, a weekday lunch was pretty average - not bad value though. I appreciate that down this end of the Northcote Road they probably don't get a lot of lunchtime trade on a weekday hence a limited prix-fixe menu. It's pretty unimaginative (Sausage & Mash, Fish & Chips or a Salad) but at £10.50 for two courses or £12.50 for three, it doesn't break the bank - it does, however, take aeons to arrive! We didn't opt for a desert as 2 course had taken the best part of 2 hours - and there were only one or two other customers!

Better places to go locally...

My first time to Niksons and I was very dissapointed. The food was incredibly bland. The lamb was tasless and over cooked. We had to wait for 35 minutes for our starter.

The next morning both my partner and I suffered from bad stomach aches.

Over priced in general.

Will never go back

Had a fab dinner at Niksons the other night. My family and I were impressed by the quality of food and the atmosphere which we were in. I don't think the food is over priced as the other reviewer commented. It was not cheap but it was worth the whole experience.

It's great to have such a good restaurant on my door step. The menus are well thought out and we were made to feel like family.

A great night out and i will be going back to try the cocktails at the bar.

Very disappointing recent visit to Niksons. Non-smoking area lacked any atmosphere so moved to smoking area which was warmer and candlelit. Had to wait a long time for very average, over-priced food.

Left feeling let down and smokey.

Won't bother returning....sorry.

A group of work friends and I went to Niksons for a few drinks and dinner about a week ago. The atmosphere was warm and wellcoming, the service when we first enetered was supurb. We were greeted warmly by the bar staff who even offered to hang up our coats. When we finally dragged ourselves away from the bar and the cocktails to take our table in the restaurant we found the service to be equally attentive. The food matched the high standards already set by the floor staff, to complete a fantastic evening. I would recommend this place to anybody who would listen.

Friends recently invited us to their favourite restaurant in London, we live in Windsor so it was some effort to travel so far.However I can honestly say we had a really great evening.

A beautiful place with a great atmosphere, really good food and friendly service.If only there was a place like Niksons near Windsor.

The previous reviewers had made me quite nervous about Niksons, but even taking into account the distracting deliciousness of my date, I have the distinct impression that I may have visited a different restaurant. The atmosphere managed to be both intimate in the restaurant and jolly in the bar; the food was really rather good and the service was prompt and attentive without becoming overbearing. The management were incredibly accomodating and gracious about our late entry to the restaurant from the bar and were kind enough to create breakfast for us the following morning, despite not actually having a breakfast menu. I would say this is the sign of an excellent local restaurant and I shall certainly be returning.
