Oslo Court

I cannot believe what this reviewer has written. I have been going to Oslo Court for 15 yrs (since I was 13 so I am not one of "those older people") and can only rave about the place. When I go with other" younger" people I do forwarn them that they are walking into a salmon pink retro environment so that they are not expecting some "super-trendy" restaurant, but that is part of the restaurants charm. The food has never disappointed and is certainly not frozen, in any shape or form, I think the person who wrote this genuinely has no idea what good food or good service is - maybe they are one of these people who believe good service is from a place where the staff are particularly rude as they believe they are better than any of the customers and charge a premium for being sneered at, as Oslo Court has some of the most attentive staff at any restaurant that I have ever been to, anywhere in the world. Some of them have worked at the restaurant for >20 years, which shows that it is a fabulous establishment that look after their staff and customers. For people looking for a lovely evening with fabulous food, off an endless menu that can be cooked any way you like, please go to Oslo Court and ignore this review!

We ate at Oslo Court in March 2010. Absolutely fantastic night! The service was top class, couldn't be faulted. The food excellent - any dish could be cooked to your specification, nothing was too much for the staff to do. Choice of foods was an eternal list. There was a great atmosphere around the restaurant. It was 10 years since our last visit (having left England) but on our recent visit this restaurant was top of our list of places to eat. So glad that the place, quality and indeed some staff hadn't changed.

I'm surprised at all the ten star reviews here.

Went for the first time after hearing some friends rave about the food there, and must say that it was one of the worst meals I have had to date.

Food is very obviously frozen, that's why everything we ordered was so chewy and bland tasting. Sauces are disgusting and nasty. Desserts are average at best. We were 4 people, we all hated every single dish, and when the bill came, we felt like idiots. Venue and colour scheme verge on the ridiculous.

Great place for old people and their dogs. But once they're in a better place, who will go there?

Crazy.

I went to Oslo Court for the first time ever last night and it deffinitely will not be the last.

I work in the hotel and restaurant industry and I loved every single minute of it.

we were treated so professionally and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.

I would deffinitely go as far as to say it was one of my best ever culinary experiences.

The value for money was amazing considering the amout of food we received.

the toast and cruditees at the beginningd were a lovely way to start off the meal.

The choice on the menu was incredible and the specials were just as good.

Reading some of the other reviews makes me wonder if people are reviewing the same restaurant! I have been to Oslo Court twice in the last three months and I love it! The restaurant is wonderfully old school. I love that ladies get a menu without prices so you can chose what you want guilt free. The service is always first class and the food is fantastic! The specials list is always as long as the menu and Neil the dessert waiter makes ordering your final course an experience. The staff are all warm, friendly and inviting. An experience I can't wait to repeat!

Having heard some really good things about Oslo Court from family members, I was bitterly disappointed by the restaurant. My family obviously have no taste. I had the lobster it was gross the sauce a thick sickly thing, a tiny not so fresh lobster. The rest was Okish for me. There was four in our party, the two ladies did not like any of the food. The decor and atmosphere is that of an old people's home. The dessert waiter irritating giving you what he wants you to have not what you want.

The restaurant is a seventies throwback. Goodluck to all those who keep going back, it is these people that keep it busy. The worst £500 I have ever spent, I felt like I had been robbed.

Appalling food. Appalling prices. Appalling decor.

Our group did not just feel disappointment...we felt as if we were being insulted. As if somehow they were playing a secret joke on us by feeding us rubbish!.

None of us will be going back, ever.

My wife and I go here on my birthday. The food is consistently outstanding. This is one of the truly great restaurants. The food is wonderfully tasty and the portions are generous. The service is something else - especially the desert waiter.

If you like glass and stainless steel restaurants with tiny portions, avoid this place. This is a restaurant from a bygone age.

I went to Oslo Court for my birthday January 2010, I found the food really disgusting. I don’t want to use such a strong word but it was truly that, I did not finish my duck I had to eat some of my girlfriend’s even then we did not finish her steak. I can wholeheartedly say my local Chinese restaurant would have done far better duck than they did at much lesser price. If you value your night out then Oslo Court is to be avoided.
