We have been dining at Racine for approximately 12 years and eat there on a regular basis. We can honestly say that we have never had a bad meal at Racine and always look forward to a wonderful dining experience. Henry Harris and his chefs are truly brilliant and produce the most excellent dishes. The managers and waiters are some of the best we have ever experienced and are always very knowledgeable of the items on their menu. It is very good value for money considering the location and produces most delicious food you can eat. It is our favourite restaurant and will continue to enjoy the exellence of RACINE and its staff.

We have only dined here once and were not impressed. The food was average, the service was very poor. We were seated close to the till and service desk on a table for six at a banquette, so we were constantly interrupted by staff checking in or out other guests.

An unhappy and expensive experience.

Well, I've been there to enjoy what I know as french classic dishes and I've been really amazed by how they cooked and all the tests was exactly as I remembered from my youth in france.......But, because is always a BUT, the service was alright but really too arrogant for place like that. I mean it isn't a 3 star michelin for god sake it is only a kind of brasserie!!!!

Never mind we did enjoy our dinner.

This restaurant is a jewel in a beautiful area of London!

Went there for dinner last night...the atmosphere is very intimate and elegant, feels very up-class. The service is very professional and polite. And the food - tasty!

I had the grilled rabbit which was delicious! (and I am often very picky about food!) It was succulent, and juicy, and the mustard sauce was perfect accompaniment. It is a somewhat expensive restaurant, but it is really great so if you want to go somewhere very nice and private (and are willing to pay for it) then I would certainly recommend it! I will go again!

Essex Eating

Essex Eating

Thursday, August 25, 2011 - I'm happy to say that the rump of lamb was without a doubt the best piece of lamb I've ever eaten, anywhere. It was ridiculously good. Beautifully cooked pink, soft, tender meat. With the accompanying pea puree, runner beans and mint, I could have eaten it all day...and I almost did, the portion size was surprisingly huge. Not that I'm complaining. E's fillet of mullet, fennel, radish and watercress salad was also a fantastic dish. A superb fennel puree cut through the oiliness of the fish beautifully and combined well with the freshness of the aniseed, peppery kick of the salad.

Monday, October 05, 2009 - Fillet of cod, parsley puree and oxtail marmalade - The dish looks every bit the part, the three contrasting colours vivid and inviting. The fish was beautifully pan-fried, just the way I like it - only ever so slightly undercooked, flaky, bouncy and juicy...A strange meal to judge, on one hand, I think that the cooking is of a high technical quality, and I appreciated how the food was not overly buttery rich, so characteristic of French cuisine. But on the other hand, great dishes are also the result of great combinations and in that respect, it was a little forgettable.

Tamarind and Thyme

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - To follow, I chose the Grilled rabbit, mustard sauce and smoked bacon. The rabbit was one of the plumpest I've ever encountered and was moist and tender. On the side was a bowlful of large boiled new potatoes, a little dull but I made do by smearing them in the mustard sauce...we searched inside for that little extra pocket of space that always seems to exist for dessert. I wanted the Cherry clafoutis, creme anglaise and yes, I got it. The cherry clafoutis is gorgeous and I wish I had room for another. Blai and I were also licking the creme anglaise out of its tiny little jug.
