We have only dined here once and were not impressed. The food was average, the service was very poor. We were seated close to the till and service desk on a table for six at a banquette, so we were constantly interrupted by staff checking in or out other guests.

An unhappy and expensive experience.

Well, I've been there to enjoy what I know as french classic dishes and I've been really amazed by how they cooked and all the tests was exactly as I remembered from my youth in france.......But, because is always a BUT, the service was alright but really too arrogant for place like that. I mean it isn't a 3 star michelin for god sake it is only a kind of brasserie!!!!

Never mind we did enjoy our dinner.

This restaurant is a jewel in a beautiful area of London!

Went there for dinner last night...the atmosphere is very intimate and elegant, feels very up-class. The service is very professional and polite. And the food - tasty!

I had the grilled rabbit which was delicious! (and I am often very picky about food!) It was succulent, and juicy, and the mustard sauce was perfect accompaniment. It is a somewhat expensive restaurant, but it is really great so if you want to go somewhere very nice and private (and are willing to pay for it) then I would certainly recommend it! I will go again!

The food here is very good but not quite the best Bistro in London, on our visit the rabbit was a little overcooked and dry. That said veal kidneys were cooked to perfection and calf's brain was pretty close.

The real sting in the tail is that prices do mount up as sides are extra and the service charge is a whopping 14.5%. The service here is very good, but there is a minimum wage in this country and there's no justification for a higher than average reccomended service charge.

Our bill was £35 a head- bearing mind we had only two courses and a glass of house wine each. It looks better value on the fixed price meals if you go at the right time. I'd still go back if in the area.

Have been going to Racine for couple years now. Last visit was last week, restaurant was quite busy for a Tuesday night. Food was brilliant as usual, had hot foie gras with a sauce with tiny slivers of orange peel, followed by veal kidneys on pureed potatoes, it had a piece of blue cheese on the top which melted through the kidneys - very nice. To finish, a clafoutis with a dessert wine. My companion had steak tartare followed by confit de canard on a bed of puy lentils and thyme, it looked wonderful and apparently it did taste wonderful. Dessert was a chocolate terrine with pistachio sauce. We had a lovely bottle of burgundy plus 2 Kirs, the bill came to approx. £150 inc service charge which for the quantity we had to eat and drink was very reasonable. There were so many interesting dishes on the menu it was hard to choose.

Essex Eating

Essex Eating

Thursday, August 25, 2011 - I'm happy to say that the rump of lamb was without a doubt the best piece of lamb I've ever eaten, anywhere. It was ridiculously good. Beautifully cooked pink, soft, tender meat. With the accompanying pea puree, runner beans and mint, I could have eaten it all day...and I almost did, the portion size was surprisingly huge. Not that I'm complaining. E's fillet of mullet, fennel, radish and watercress salad was also a fantastic dish. A superb fennel puree cut through the oiliness of the fish beautifully and combined well with the freshness of the aniseed, peppery kick of the salad.

Monday, October 05, 2009 - Fillet of cod, parsley puree and oxtail marmalade - The dish looks every bit the part, the three contrasting colours vivid and inviting. The fish was beautifully pan-fried, just the way I like it - only ever so slightly undercooked, flaky, bouncy and juicy...A strange meal to judge, on one hand, I think that the cooking is of a high technical quality, and I appreciated how the food was not overly buttery rich, so characteristic of French cuisine. But on the other hand, great dishes are also the result of great combinations and in that respect, it was a little forgettable.

Tamarind and Thyme

Tamarind and Thyme

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - To follow, I chose the Grilled rabbit, mustard sauce and smoked bacon. The rabbit was one of the plumpest I've ever encountered and was moist and tender. On the side was a bowlful of large boiled new potatoes, a little dull but I made do by smearing them in the mustard sauce...we searched inside for that little extra pocket of space that always seems to exist for dessert. I wanted the Cherry clafoutis, creme anglaise and yes, I got it. The cherry clafoutis is gorgeous and I wish I had room for another. Blai and I were also licking the creme anglaise out of its tiny little jug.
