Two Brothers Fish Restaurant
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Yesterday evening I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant.I cannot believe how this once very good restaurant has gone downhill so much. There was only two other customers waiting. Two young men were behind the service counter, One was busy texting on his mobile phone. Whilst we were waiting for our food the other young man blew his nose into a tissue. He did not wash his hands afterwards which I thought was appalling. I also noticed the floors tiles were filty.
The food was awful. The chips were extremely dry and the cod was far too greasy. The entire experience was very disappointing. I will not be returning .

What a fabulous fish and chip restaurant. Was passing by on my motor bike and my friend noticed it. We walked in and met the manager who is very charming, he is called Enzo an Italian from Naples who knows his fish so he told us. He was charming and very helpful. We were seated an enjoying a glass of champagne within a couple of minutes. I ordered halibut and had it lightly grilled with chips and my friend had a grilled dover sole, both were cooked to perfection. I think we are both hooked and will be back in 2011.

Is the two brothers living on its reputation just a bit? Chips good but not special, fish not as substantial as once it was. Still better than the average chippies though - as it should be, for the price.

So disappointing. This once fabulous stalwart has gone down hill considerably. Our fish was so overcooked it was more akin to sawdust, so dry that we really couldn't eat it, not to mention the portion size was a joke. As for the chips, although you can't go too wrong with them too much, the portion size again was embarrassing. One thing that was good.... their pickled onions. So, unless you are absolutely desperate for fish & chips I would strongly suggest venturing elsewhere. No doubt the queues for Toffs will now be even longer!

We're new to the area and after reading some favourable reviews, my family and I decided to try out the takeaway. Firstly, it's on the expensive side and that along with the rave reviews I had high expectations. I couldn't have been more disappointed, the food was okay but nothing special and they were very tight with the size of the fish and the portion of chips. Overall, although the meal was adequate, it was over priced and I came away feeling a little ripped off.

Pretty dated restaurant serving great fish!
Service is of the family-run kind. In fact, as I think back to my visit, I'm quite sure it is. Certainly very friendly but with a quirk here and there.
You could probably order just about any fish cooked any way here. But I prefer to stick to the menu! As long as you like fish, you'll be fine here. Drinks were a bit limited, but I suppose this is really just a jazzed-up fish and chip restaurant.
I do wish they would redecorate though. I know we've just come out of a recession, but please? They've been around for a long time now, so there must surely be something in the kitty.
Value? Well, possibly a tad more than I'd like to spend on fish and chips, but it is nice and everything is very pleasant.
I'd go here on a family outing, but probably not a date.

Went to Two Brothers last night for a take away. It was empty, maybe at 8pm on a Wednesday thats only to be expected.
Ordered cod and chips and scampi and chips. Prices were not extreme, bar the £1.20 for a tub of home made tartare sauce so I was looking forward to this little excursion.
Waited 10-15 minutes as they cook to order which is fine as well, but when the food was presented I was really very very shocked.
The cod was a solid looking hand sized chick of fish. Thick but still, not impressive to see. The portions of chips were miniscule !! They charge £1.40 or something for the tiny portion of chips !!
Anyway I took the whole lot home still looking forward to the flavours and textures.
The whole thing from beginning to end was a HUGE disappointment. The fish was, as I said, a good thick chunk, but it was so so dry I could barely chew it. Seriously, how can you get something like that so badly wrong ? It was horrible. The chips were also really dry, and so unpleasant that my 2 year old who would live on chips if he had the choice turned his nose up at them.
To add insult to injury the tartare sauce was home made, and this could be seen as it was just a load of mayo which very very little else in there, the odd bit of chopped gherkin. It was so rubbish I threw it away. For £1.20 it was a major con.
I won't go back, and I don't get how there are people giving the place such rave reviews. There's heaps better, like Sams in Golder Green, or Nautilus in West End Lane.
