Bar Du Musee

Since its refurb this once charming wine bar has become a large restaurant/wine bar. The bar itself is nice though service is pretty poor and they are often out of wines on the over-priced wine list. The food is adequate but the aircraft hangar space at the back gets very noisy. Its a shame that all the charm was ripped out of this place as its no longer the wonderful place it once was

We really loved our evening out here. Four of us dined at 8pm on a Sat night. Service was well paced, waiter was incredibly helpful (e.g. offered for the chef to prepare an alternative sauce for one dish) and we all enjoyed the food a great deal. The setting is fantastic, really open and spacious. It had quite a vibrant (but not too noisy) atmosphere. We left thinking that we had made a really great choice four the birthday celebration of our friend. I'd defintely go back.

17 of us went for sunday lunch, basically we wish we had not. The service was poor, we were seated 45 minutes late, not because the table was not ready, but because there were not enough staff to accomodate us. The place was only a third full, god only knows how bad it would have been if it had been full. As for the food most of it arrived luke warm or cold, the steaks were poorly cooked, they all came out the same and were over cooked. I thought the prices were expensive for what we got. When we complained we recieved a large discount, but would much rather of had a great meal and paid the full price. We may have just got them on a bad day, but my advice would be to steer clear of Bar Du Musee

I was here recently and the service was horrific. The French waitress was incredibly rude and customers were treated like a burden as if by serving us drinks they were doing us a favour!

Steer clear of this place! The service is poor and at times non-existent to the point where I have walked in out in disgust, after waiting for someone to greet us. If you do decide to eat, prepare yourself for a boring, and very limited menu with silly prices. The food is dreadful, whether you choose a bog standard Sunday brunch or an evening meal. The Bar Du Musee was okay years ago but now it's a greasy, money grabbing establishment.

I went for dinner there in September 2007 and it was fabulous. The food was delicious and there was lots of it. The service was quick and always courteous.
I would definitely recommend it.

I'm a big fan of this type of restaurant so I was immensely disappointed at my experience here, which was such a shame. Firstly, a French restaurant where the waiters don't know what 'blue' is in terms of cooking a steak is pretty shocking, but worse was the chef delivered medium-rare instead! Not even rare! And this is after I had made quite a point of it (jokingly) with the waiter, as I know how difficult it is to get a proper rare steak in England. I note I did get an apology for this from the waiter when I raised it.
The vegetables were sauteed potatoes and spinach, which were presented as a round, with the spinach on top. Unfortunately it was not drained well so the potatoes underneath were soggy! The spinach and sauce were very good, and the wine excellent.
The tarte tatin was nothing to write home about.
The service was very good on the whole, with the only glitch being forgetting to offer us the dessert menu (although given we were one of only two tables in the place forgetting us took some doing). Otherwise the staff were pleasant, polite, helpful.
The setting is lovely, I did really like the decor, but because it was empty there was no atmosphere.
I do also think this was overpriced, though probably only because of the points above, if I had been happy I would have thought the prices reasonable.

Went for a dinner last night with my boy and as it was his first time in Greenwich, I opted for BDM (what happened to Greenwich Park Bar&Grill btw?!).
Bad point first:
Service very slow...our drinks took about 15min and then the manager came to let us know that they don't have slim line tonic! Staff had a cure French accent but not a very good understanding of English. Manager offered us two types of Soup of the day - staff didn't know about it. Mains took ageeeees, even though there were only 3 other tables with dinners.
Good point:
BDM has always been a reliable place in Greenwich, consistent good atmosphere, kind staff. Food was well presented and very tasty. I had a sea trout with potato's and spinach and my partner had cold soup (v good) and seafood langoustine. Food quality was in the price range.
Overall experience - good. Would come back for an easy mid week dinner. Not for a sat night special date. Mind the decor - amazing!

I dined at BDM on Sunday with three friends. We were all incredibly disappointed at the quality of food and service, and the high cost charged for poor quality food.
There was only the lunch menu avaiable and we decided to opt for the BBQ otpion. The portions were lame and the quality of the meat was poor. We also ordered a side poriton of chips and it looked as though the oil hadn't been changed in months, they were so discoloured.
The coleslaw resembled that served at school, although much poorer quality.
At the prices charged, you would think there products would be homemade not reconstituted junk.
This is probably the worst meal I've had and I am not one to exaggerate.

Three of us went to have lunch at MDM last Sunday. A very disappointing experience, indeed. They didn't have two of the three main courses we chose. from the menu. The "chargrilled" chicken sandwich, which two of us ended up having, was simply breaded chicken pieces in a baguette with two wilted salad leaves; very uninspired. The vegetarian main course did not look too appetising either. A great shame, especially that my friend wanted to treat us to a nice lunch. Well, we will know better next time...
