I took my parents out for a meal and booked via lastminute on a pre-paid fixed price menu. Because of this I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I also wasn't expecting our party to be treated as if we'd just fallen through the doorway. We were seated and the fixed price menus were taken off our table and replaced with the regular menus, but we still planned to order our original menu. When the waitress arrived to take our order, we were told that all we could order from was the carvery, so my parents took their plates and chose some dry meat, while I plumped for macaroni cheese. A few minutes into our dinner the manager arrived and informed us loudly in front of the other diners that the food we were eating was much more expensive than we had pre-paid and that we shouldn't be eating it! Frankly it was awful, the meat was almost falling apart and the macaroni cheese was cold and congealed. We were obviously quite shocked and tried to explain the misunderstanding, but the waitress wouldn't open her mouth. Eventually the manager "graciously" agreed to let us continue the meal and have our dessert, but by this time all we wanted to do was leave and even the walk of shame through the beautiful dining room felt better than the idea of staying another moment. I was mortified, especially since I had booked for my parents who are always shy about visiting London and will never be returning!

My sister and I stayed at The Berners Hotel and decided to try eating in their Reflections restaurant one evening. I wish we hadn't. The atmosphere was cold and clinical, the waiters hardly spoke to you and the food was adequate at best. We had cocktails at the restaurant bar afterwards which were overpriced and in small quantities. If we stay at the hotel again, we would eat out!

My fiancé and I went for dinner to the Reflections restaurant at the Bernes Hotel .

It was completely no value for money at all. We paid £85.00 per person for a five course meal , which does not seem a lot , but for what we were given it certainly was .

We arrived to the table and asked for a glass of champagne to start our evening , but were served the starter with the champagne already … so no time to relax .

The Starter of our years menu was not as great as you would think ,, some roasted peppers and a piece of bread .

Then we had a lobster and mussels tartlet , however I am sure that this tartlet has never ever seen a lobster or anything even similar to that .

As I don’t eat Lamb I then asked for a vegetarian main course , which was something indescribable .. and not possible to eat …

Well to cut a long story short .. we left the restaurant starving – soI would recommend to just go there when you have already eaten or plan on going out for a real dinner afterwards.

Our 10th anniversary was comming up so we decided to celebrate with a lovely meal out. Unfortunately our first choices were closed over Christmas, we wanted to go out on the 29th December. So browsing through this site I came upon this restaurants reviews and thought it sounded nice so we'd give it a try. The day of the meal came and I phone to check the address and to ask for an extra special table because of the event, i was assured this would be done. We should have guessed that the meal may be a disaster when the postcode given wasn't the right address, not to worry we found the place and very grand it was too and thats as far as the compliments go. The lady at the desk seemed most suprised we were there and we were told to pick a table, not given an extra nice one which wouldn't have been difficult as the place was practically empty. I'm sorry to say the room was very like a hotel dinning room, which admitidley is what it was, but it was also very cold with no atmosphere whatsoever and the loudest Bett Midler or similar music blaring out. The specials wern't the specials on the menu and it was a carvery which is most definately not what we wanted. I'm affraid I can't say how the food was as we left. the only good thing about the restaurant was the fact it was in London so we could leave and go somewhere else. Saying that the lady was very appologetic and understanding when we left. We understand that it was probably the wrong time of year to go but that's not really an excuse and we won't be returning to find out.
