Denise's Restaurant

This is a fantastic restaurant, I was in london on business and found this early in my week stay, I returned on my last night in London as my original experience was so good.

The food is lovely, on my first visit I had the french onion soup followed by the fillet steak with a madeira sauce, my second visit I had the seafood salad, followed by chicken in a white wine sauce then to finish I had the chocolate gateau.

Having been to france on a few occasions it is nice to finally find a restaurant in the uk which is able to replicate true style of french cuisine and ambience.

On another note, as I was on a business trip, I was dining alone, from my many previous experiences of dining in London under the same circumstances, in other establishments I have been made to feel unwelcome and rushed so they can get another cover.

In this restaurant, I was allowed all the time I wanted to enjoy my food and read my book, the waitress even brought me an extra drink (at no charge) until I was ready to settle the bill.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for all the reasons mentioned above.

This was our first visit to denise's and we couldn't fault it ,the food was excellent as was the service , we were made to feel welcome ,and the staff were all friendly and helpful the fact that one of our party has a food allergy didn't phase them at all. We enjoyed it so much that we went back after the theatre in the evening ,and again were given a very warm welcome .We would go back there without a doubt , and would highly recomend it to anyone.

On the strength of these reviews, four of us booked when a cinema visit took us to the area. While the restaurant is indeed a friendly place and they strive to make you welcome, the quality of the food does not match the service. We were disappointed and will not return.

Absolutely fabulous find in Bloomsbury! Staff is extremely warm and attentive. Food OUTSTANDING. The thing that make's Denise's even better is their late, late hours. Owner is very involved and it shows. Their culinary staff produces excellent product. Nice, friendly waitstaff of personable young ladies. Great restaurant with great people and great hours. A wonderful experience all around. My definate restaurant stop each and every time I am in London.

We visited this restaurant in Dec 2009 and we were really satisfied of it. Good food, cordial service and great value. We had different meals and all of them were tasty and abundant. I will be back.

We visited Denises for an evening meal in august 2009. We found the staff very welcoming and friendly.My boyfriend had king prawns to start with which were beautiful, Obviously fresh, meaty and very tasty. He chose fillet steak for main meal and I had Pasta Carbonara, The steak was cooked medium as requested and perfectly. The pasta was equally very tasty and portions were very substantial and we had a very enjoyable meal. We shared a bottle of wine and had one dessert between us and felt it was exceptional value for money considering the quality of the food. We also overheard a gentleman sitting behind us comment to the waitress that he had just eaten the best mussels he had ever tasted!! If you are in the area we would strongly recommend you try this restaurant

We never visit London without visiting Denise's. Sometimes several times during our stay.

And why - the excellent food and service, the whole atmosphere in top.

During my vacation march 26. to april 2. 2009 I dinned twice at Denise's Restaurant. The first night I had booked via London-eating. I was so delighted over the meal, the staff and the atmosphere, so I decided to repeat it on my last night.

The food was excellent to top grade and was to no comparison the best I got under this years vacation, as was the attention from the staff and the service.

I can only higly recomend this restaurant.

I cannot understand some of the most recent reviews of Denise’s. There is no way in hell this place can be given so many stars.

I work nearby and went to this place very recently with a small group for lunch. I had no idea what to expect. Other than French food. The décor was below average, the cleanliness was in question. As you walk in, I immediately knew I would not order the desserts – they were on display at the entrance!!! When you order they would go up to this trolley at the entrance which has been bathing in afternoon sun and not kept in refrigeration and cut you a piece. Absolutely disgraceful.

The service started off badly, as the place was mostly empty and we got served after some guest who arrived later. We had to get up and get the waitress. Before I go on about the service I must mention that there was only one waitress for lunch, and the place did not look ready to open to more than 2 guests. Plus, we aren’t the type of guest to complain or be horrible in anyway. We were served after 15 minutes of waiting, and the food arrive 90 minutes later!!!!!! The length of a football game!!!

The food was terrible. I can eat anything, but the quality was the same as a microwave take away from your local supermarket, valued at £1. The spaghetti cost around £8…. awful! I ordered a cheese omelette….. it was disgusting. It was like a dried up piece of bread with 4 chunks of cheese on the top, it wasn’t even hot, and the cheese hadn’t melted.

Nothing fresh or decent about this place. The waitress was so upset with some of us walking out. This place looked like it’s cutting too many corners to cope with credit crunch. Repeat business, I doubt it! The customers there did not look like people who have been there before, just random tourist who where going to get ripped off.

In terms of ripping people off, paying for a large drink will get you the same as a small, as they don’t expect you to have been there before. The menu was mostly bad, anyone calling themselves French would not be caught dead in this place.

This review is genuine with no biasness at all, please help make Denise’s realise that it can make money by doing thing better and serving better food. Stop them from ripping us off!
