I used to like this place with its charming art deco dining room with wooden booths, and fireplace - lovely in winter.... but we had a disastrous meal there just before Christmas. maybe it has changed hands in the past year?? The food was so-so compared to before when it was good by pub standards - duck was leathery, veg tart lacking flavour. I would have put it down to the pressures of the season and the staff's inability to cope with a group of nine (we had chosen our food in advance so how hard can it be?) but the attempt to stick not one but two extra bottles of wine on the bill was a bit of a shocker. It was also ear-splittingly noisy as they cannot accommodate a party of more than four in the dining room so you have to sit in the main pub being brayed over by drunken Bloomsberries.

this pub has a delightful little ambience and i thought the food served was of the highest calibre and never since my days in the british army has good food gone down SO well thanks awfully for the great memories and great food!

The pub has an rustic charm mixed with art deco, which I liked. The service was prompt and polite. The best thing about the place is the food, which was impeccable, well priced and extremeley tasty! I shall be going again in the near future.

A pub or eatery that lacks total pleasure in its customers or lack clenliness is not worth visiting; it is not a question of only being a little bit this and a bit that but one of the eatery wanting your custom and what they will do to get it, this place falls short.
