I had been to this restaurant with my wife on a Saturday evening.

We had tried the 2 course set menu. The ambience is very romantic with candles and very low lighting and it has a very rustic feel reminiscent of rural Italy. I ordered the Pizza which is best avoided (I think I am too used to Pizza Hut pizzas) but the pasta was nice. The place seems to be crowded so book in advance. Expect to spend around 20£ per person.

In general Italian restuarants even in Italy are mostly middle of the road basic food but with prices that really make a mockery of eating out. Most British people have very little idea of Italian food and why should they.

The Italian restaurant set up in the U.K is not very good and the word cynical could be the best way to describe the relationship between the Italian kitchen and foreign customers.

I was in here again paid for by a client who insisted going here. Well I just had some Mozzarella and ham.Its not worse than other places but not better.

I would have to agree with the previous reviewer. I have been going to the Italian Kitchen since 2005. It has always been my "go to" restaurant for special occasions and meetings with clients. Went there three weeks ago, menu had changed drastically, fewer choices, but the food was still good. Went again tonight, it was horrible. The lasagne was small and dry, the tiramasu tasted like instant coffee. The service was deplorable. I had made a reservation for a large party of my clients who are visiting here from Italy in a couple of weeks. I will be cancelling my reservation.

Avoid .Wetherspoons do better pasta To be honest Italian restuarants are die in Italy too. Very few places know what and how to cook.If you wnt the best its 60 pounds minimum per person in Italy. This place at 7.95 is like one night they get it together the next night no.

We eat here often, probably once a month, as it is near our office. There are endless alternatives but go back because it is like going to a local restaurant in Italy. It is informal and characterful. Food is a hobby and here it is simple food very well cooked. It is a place that encourages you to have a fun. relaxed, time. It's not Michelin star cooking but is all the better for it. It is only slightly dearer than a chain but much much better.

Italian Kitchen is one of my and my husband's favourite restaurants. He's Italian and I've travelled round the country many times, so obviosuly we're very picky about our Italian restaurants, but this is one of the best affordable ones in London.

The decor is quaint and charming and the staff are always friendly. I have always found my food to be delicious, be it pizza, pasta or a fish or meat dish. The wine selection is superb and I've never had a bad one in the many years I've been coming here, even when choosing from the cheaper end of the list.

And as for the reviewer below who complained that her pizza had a thin base and was 'greasy' with very little cheese, well Italian pizzas are made with a thin crust and plenty of oil. Many varieties don't include lots of cheese either! How that comment made me laugh!! If you want thick crusted, cheese-laden Amercianized junk food with pineapple on top, order a takeaway. If you want a delicious, traditional Italian pizza then visit a fine Italian restaurant, such as Italian kitchen.

I'd highly recommend a visit.

At first it seems like a nice little trattoria in a busy part of town but whatever you do, don't be deceived.

The starters were tasteless and my pizza tasted like an oversize water biscuit covered in ketchup.

Add a dollop of insincere service and a dash of nasty wine and you'll get the idea.
