Konaki

Me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant last night and really could not have enjoyed the food more!

We received attentive service throughout and loved the Greek interior, finding it welcoming and comfortable.

We ordered a chicken souvlaki and a lamb in a tomato casserole dish and shared some sides of potatoes, salad AND courgettes! The menu did not mention that the main dishes come with quite substantial side orders so i felt that it was a shame that the waitress did not mention this to us when she knew that our three sides would be too much food!

However, the meals were fantastic, perfectly cooked meat, amazing flavours and generous portions. The side order of courgettes were probably my favourite thing- they come lightly battered and were delicious!

We then finished our meals with two puddings- one poached pear with greek yoghurt and Halva, a greek desert made with nuts and sesame oil, which was recommended by our waiter and was lovely!

Overall the experience was fantastic and we are planning our next visit! Worked out quite expensive with the highly priced sides(4.50 for courgettes!!) and the included service charge but this could not keep us away from the wonderful food Konaki has to offer!

I went with a friend just before New Year's Eve in 2010. Being of Greek-Cypriot origin, I would like to think that I know what is good and what it not.

The friend I went with had never had Greek food before, thus, I ordered (in Greek) for him. We shared a starter of grilled lounza and halloumi - simple but easy to over-grill so that the cheese goes rubbery. I was very happy, therefore, when it arrived just perfect.

We then had the pork souvlaki. My experiences of past souvlaki in restaurants have been of dry and very salty meat but the meat was very moist and with just the amount of salt. It came with klitharaki (pasta-rice) and potatoes. The kilitharaki was a nice authenitic touch as I have never found it outside of Cyprus.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, but most importantly were all Greek, making the whole experience more enjoyable (it is a sorry state of affairs when Greek resaurants are staffed by other nationalities just because the labour is cheaper).

Overall, I was very impressed with the restaurant and would go back again. Most importantly, my friend is now hooked on Greek food.

Went to Konaki last night for a pre-theatre meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent and plentyful. Lovely cosy atmosphere and music, and food on other tables looked very appetising indeed. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Whilst all reviews are subjective and based on experience at the time, I can say that my experience of Konaki is consistently positive.

I frequent this restaurant almost every time I am in London, and almost always with colleagues, peers and friends. I have yet to experience any negative feedback and know that many of many associates re-visit this excellent restaurant with their friends in turn.

The food and wine at Konaki are excellent and supported by friendly and knowledgable staff. The outside seats are excellent in summer for a chilled out dinner with a very cold bottle of retsina.

I discovered the Konaki in 2007 & try & dine there whenever I am in London. Have always found the food, wine, the staff together with the atmosphere to be superb.
