This is an ideal place for small parties. I held my engagement party here and was pleasantly surprised at the smooth running of the event. I must commend the staff for their friendliness and hospitability - they had ensured that all guests were welcomed and served. The guests had complimented the food (which included vegetable, lamb and chicken dishes), which was a great relief. The overall price was good, given the quality and variety of food served and the convenient location of the restaurant. I would most definitely recommend Lal Qila to those looking for an affordable yet classy venue.

The food here is delicious and fantastic!!! I believe the price of the food is extremely reasonable. The restaurant consists of excellent varities of fish dishes. They have excellent offers between 5-9pm which includes starters, main dishes, side dishes, rice and nan for £9.95. The service is here unbelievable and I would recommend everyone to go there before they start regretting.

Found this place when the one we wanted was closed and we were so glad we went in. Lovely food both veggie and meat. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We both had a tali with beers and the value for money was spot on.

A very disappointing experience all round i must say!!. Portions were very small & staff were unfriendly and unattentive.

If you are looking for a good Indian restaurant in london then definitely give this one a miss!!!

I visit Lal Qila regularly as I work nearby. It is an excellent restaurant and the staff are one of the best things about it as they are very friendly and warm. They do an excellent buffet lunch for £5.50 which is all you can eat. the food is not labelled (when is it ever?) but everything is tasty and plentiful. I have also eaten here in the evenings with friends and had an extremely pleasant experience each time. Highly recommended.

I think Lal Qila is a fantastic restaurant, with some of the tastiest Indian/Bengali food available (although perhaps the decor could do with some work!) I think the spice level is about average for curryhouses; certainly you aren't going to have your head blown off. The 'Thali' dishes (a platter of different curries) are great feasts, if a little on the expensive side. As for staff - when I was studying at UCL, myself and a friend became regulars at this restaurant: we found the waiters very friendly, we were soon offered free poppadoms, and the waiters sometimes still ask where my American friend is two years after he headed back to the States! All in all, this is a great place in a great area.

Hi,

I had been to Lal Qila today and would like to comment..

We had buffet lunch which was reasonably priced at 5.50. However there were no name tags near the dishes and that was a bit of a hassle as we had to keep asking. The waiters are not too friendly which didnt help. Also the food was very hot and spicy! Didnt do any good for my tummy!

Would skip this restaurant next time definitely!

I had a quick meal in here a few weeks ago. The prices are reasonable and the service is okay, I found a lot of the food was overly spicy. If thats what you like then you'll enjoy it. The decor is okay but its not as modern as some of the new restaurants.
