Navarro's
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I've been to Navarro's twice - one dinner with 5 others (22 June) and one lunch ((July) - both times on the street level. Both times, service was polite and attentive. Food is really tasty and good value for money. Wine was very reasonable and nice quality.
I was sufficiently bothered about the commernt re toilets to check this out.....and can confirm that bleach was very much in evidence and they were fresh smelling!
Navarro's was recommended to me and it has been very pleasant both times. We are coming again.

Navarro's had been acceptable on previous visits - nowhere near the food standards set by Camino's in Varnishers Yard - but to run out of the basics at 21:00 on a Saturday will make this weekend my third and final visit. No Pimento's del Padron? OK, it's a staple so may be subject to unforseen demand. But to run out of bread ? When it's sold at 1.95 per 4 small chunks, the maitre d' would have been better off scouring Charlotte Street for a loan than diligently counting the takings! The offer of sliced bread (white!) didn't help. Good while it lasted, but time to move on.

Navarros is, without doubt, one of the best Tapas resturaunts in London. The best dishes are (perhaps unsurprisingly) those that are most popular: chorizo, calamari, pimentos, etc but the whole menu is well executed. The service is not that of a 5* French eatery but that is because this is not a 5^ French eatery. This is Spanish,: colourful, full of flavour and full of life. There is an authenticity and an intimacy about this place which is very hard to find in London, especially centrally. There could be improvements: more wine by the glass, more attention to delivering the less popular dishes and some seasonal specials added to the menu. But these are minor flaws. This place embodies the heart and soul of Spanish cusine and if you can get a table and share this wonderful food, I am sure you will feel the same.

Wow how does this place survive near to two of the best tapas places in London? Think food like la tasca prices like fino. Plus if you are lucky you can get a table near the toilets and enjoy the attractive aroma of the urinal blocks as an accompaniment...

We went to Navarro's last night. I used to work opposite and remembered the restaurant to serve great tapas and have a good atmosphere.
I don't usually write reviews but I was shocked how bad it was there. The service was terrible; offhand almost. The uniforms were ridiculous and the food was quite simply horrible. It certainly hadn't been freshly cooked that day and tasted as though it had been reheated more than once! The waitresses actually tried to force us to enter a tip too!! There are plenty of good spanish restaurants around - this is no longer one of them.

Went to Navarro's for a friend's birthday meal on Friday evening, in a group of 15 people.
We ordered the set menu (at £20 per head) and the food was fine, if unexceptional. Service was reasonable although the staff did not look as though they were very happy to be there and it was quite a struggle to attact somebody's attention to order more wine, water etc.
On leaving, I went to the ladies toilet and was surprised when one of the waitresses came in to say, albeit apologetically, that when we paid the bill it had been £1 short and asked me for the money. I had not seen the actual final bill and just gave her a £1 out of my purse.
However, when I told the person in our group who had sorted out the bill about this afterwards he was rather shocked as between our group the service charge that had automatically been added to the bill was over £50. Given that this much had already been left as a tip I felt quite annoyed that they'd then chased us up for a £1.
Overall, this place is mediocre in terms of food, atmosphere and service. I have been to several other Spanish restaurants in London such as Jamon Jamon in Camden and El Molino in Holloway which have provided more interesting and tastier tapas, friendlier staff and in general, a much more enjoyable experience.

Staff were in the main terse and the food served in under 30 seconds - microwave tapas anyone...
Shame as I had heard this place was wonderful - perhaps it changed hands recently?

Couldn't agree more! So many other brilliant restaurants nearby that are worth every penny!

We went as a group of 8 for dinner here this past Saturday (3-10-09). I have to say we were all agreed the food was excellent, including the plentiful vegetarian options. The service was very good: we had a waiter and then later a waitress, both were very friendly and smiley and responsive. We really enjoyed the happy atmosphere in here and it's in a fantastic location. Our only gripe were the chairs which are hard and uncomfortable but everything else was great. We are already planning our next visit here.
I am tempted to ask why the previous reviewer had such a different experience to us- maybe they went to the other tapas around the corner and confused it with this one?
After 8 years in London, this is definately one of my favourite restaurants!

Having been to Navarro's a few times I was well aware that the level of service is mediocre at best, but I was appalled on my last visit that I felt compelled to write this review. The service was abysmal.
Having been in a party of 4, we had ordered around 8 or so dishes which we expected to be served within 5 minutes or so of each other. This wasn’t the case. We would get 2 dishes and then have to wait around 10-15 minutes for another 2 dishes and so on. Disappointing.
Despite ordering another bottle of wine, our glasses were empty for a most of our meal.
When we asked to pay for our bill we were ignored for so long that we put our jackets on and took the bill with us and made our way upstairs. Upstairs we made the manager and owner aware that we could have easily walking out of the restaurant without paying and none of the staff would have noticed. I was expecting them to be slightly concerned/horrified but to my shock they were neither! We also talking them through our substandard experience, they offered no apology and the owner told us he’d been in England 43 years and that if we didn’t like it then we shouldn’t come back. Frankly there was already no danger of us coming back. How many restaurant owners/managers would treat customers like that? Such a shame as the food is brilliant. Oh well, I’ll be dining at the numerous other restaurants in Charlotte Street and my advice is for everybody to do the same.
