I must admit the first time I went to Bayee Houe in Putney I was less than impressed. However, one night when I was sick and didnt feel like cooking, i ordered takeout from there and loved it!
To make sure my tastebuds werent tricking me, I've returned twice since then with my partner and we haven't been disappointed. Hot + Sour soup is one of the best Ive had and crispy shredded beef with carrot is a delight. Service is ok, they don't always get it quite right but thats easily overlooked due to the quality and freshness of the food.

My boyfriend and I went to Bayee for a Friday night dinner. While it wasn't a completely unpleasant experience, I would not return. We ordered a selection of dim-sum to start. Being half-Chinese, I have had my fair share of dimsum in my life! While the fillings were absolutely delicious, the dough was undercooked, indicating the parcels had not been steamed for long enough.
For mains, my boyfriend orderes beef with cashew nuts and chillies which was very good. I ordered prawn with bamboo shoots, which was ok. As a side we had an order of Chinese mushrooms, which was very disappointing. Chinese mushrooms are great because of their wonderful flavour, which seemed to be absent in this dish.
Finally, in an apparent attempt at good service, the waiters/waitresses would return to our table every couple of minutes or so to fill up our glasses of water. This was not done discretely, consistently interrupted our conversation, and annoyed us both.
It was a bit pricey for what we ordered, and I would not return again.

The food was fine, but we were forgotten time and time again by the waiting staff. I received my soup an hour after we arrived, and half an hour after my dinner companion received his spring rolls.

We went to Bayee on a recommendation and visted on a quiet Monday night. We liked the restaurant, nice surroundings and very attentive service.
Couple of grumbles. I picked sweet and sour pork fillet Peking style, as I thought it might be different to the usual s & s dish if the chef was going to use lean meat, not so, it was ordinary s & s, very fatty, when the waitress was questioned she fired back very quickly it was cooked in the Peking style, which seemed a little odd as I am under the impression that 'style' means how it is cooked and 'fillet' means lean meat. Second grumble, the meal seemed a little heavy on good old glutamate sulphate (is that how it is spelt?).
Otherwise a nice meal in a nice restaurant, if a little pricey at sixty pounds.

I disagree - Bayee house may be a little bit pricey, but it is good quality food. The main thing is they do not present you with a dish that is bad. All their food is of a high standard and very tasty! So if you are looking for good quality food and good service Bayee is the place to go.

I tried this place once - and I'd not go back. There are far too many rip off Chinese restaurants in London. I thought I'd try this after it's refit but it really was a dissapointment. The dishes were small and they charge extortionate amounts for rice - which is so cheap in reality. Plus it totally lacks atmosphere. If you want good Chinese seek out somewhere that does not try to be something it is not.
