The Old Delhi used to be an excellent Persian and Indian Restaurant a few years ago. Sadly it has gone more and more down hill. I ate there last night (28th May 2008). My partner had an excellent lamb Kebab but my lamb vindaloo was more potatoe than meat and was very over salted as was the spinach/cheese bhaji to the point of being inedible. The service was indifferent yet charged at 15% (£7). The proprietor who had set up office on a nearby table tried to charge us extra for rice that came with the Kebab (no rice was ordered). The credit card machine kept voiding my card so my partner had to go and pay at the counter (apparently a blue tooth connection problem). It's also looking scruffy, dirty and needing painting with food stains on the wall by the window. Not a good experience. There were not many other diners and it doesn't take a lot to work out why.

Hmm. The previous diner has evidently enjoyed eating here a lot. I thought this restaurant was fine - but no more than that. The food was good but not more than that. The service varied from slightly over-bearing to almost invisible. But above all - the price! I know that round the back of Marble Arch it was never going to be cheap but my word - this place is pricey and thereby the value for money suffers. All fine - might well go back - but would hope not to be paying: it was a bit of a nipper.

THIS IS ONE OF THE CLEANEST RESTAURANT I HAVE BEEN TO. THE TWO CUISINES INDIAN AND PERSIAN SEEM TO COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER VERY WELL. THE WINE LIST WAS AMAZING. STAFF WERE SO HELPFUL AND IT WAS NICE TO SEE THE LADY OWNER COME ROUND THE TABLES CHECKING HOW WE ALL WERE ENJOYING OUR FOOD. WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ALL DESCENING DINNERS.
