Savoir Faire

We ventured to Savoir Faire for our team Christmas lunch and were delighted by the personal service and lovely food. We were surprised when we discover our table was situated in beautiful private room, which again highlights the owners, Irene and Max's experience and foresight in the making their guests feel special. As mentioned below the restaurant and staff make you feel completely at ease, indeed they had no qualms with us relaxing at our table long after our meal was complete. Perhaps the best restaurant in London to dine in as a group.

Hosted a birthday dinner here the other night and was very impressed by the food! The wine was just OK but really for the price it would be difficult to do better. Posh it is not but it does exude a feeling of rustic authenticity; Savoir is more about quality food than flash. The mussels are exceptional! Highly recommended.

Certainly one of my most favourite restaurants in London. Have been a few times and the service, although perhaps a little relaxed, is always friendly and the food cooked to perfection.
I have read over reviews that have suggested the service is slow - I think it depends on how you look at it. If you are wanting a quick pre-show meal that is served, eaten and digested within 20 minutes this is not the place fo ryou. If you want to enjoy a relaxed evenign with good wine, in a lovely venue where the food is lovingly prepared so yes, it does take a while longer, but the resulting dishes are certainly worth the wait.

I enjoyed my first visit to Savoir Faire just a few weeks ago and I very much hope it will not be my last. The ambiance of the place was very pleasant and the service and food were both of a generally high standard.
I chose the chicken livers followed by lamb whilst my partner had aubergine then the special which that day was cod. Both of my courses were beautifully cooked and whilst the aubergine was apparently a little disappointing, the cod was a definite improvement.
I didn't pay the bill on this occasion so can't comment, but I did note that prices seemed fair for the area and service was not included. This is something which I wish more restaurants would do as I know that when service has been good but not smuggled into the bill I invariably tip more than I would when obliged to do so.
In the heart of the West End in a location where they could get away with pedaling ordinary, overpriced, food to tourists they have resisted the temptation and then some. A real find.

The team went out for dinner in March - had a terrific evening. The service was welcoming and responsive even for our large party. Food was what you'd hope to get in France, one or two dishes were average but most were good or very good - certainly no complaints only compliments from the entire group. Will definitely return.

Latest visit was rather disappointing. The mussels in garlic butter and pernot had been a favourite on previous visits. But this time, each hole of the "snail pan" had 3-4 tiny, gritty mussels in it instead of one large juicy one. The steak was quite tough and dry.
Not sure we'll bother returning, which is a shame - this used to be a reliable place for a good value meal.

I chose Savoir Faire for our anniversary meal on the basis of the reviews on here. I have to say I completely agree with the positive ones and deride the few negatives, as we had an excellent time.
The food is just the right side of homely, beautifully presented with the occasional inventive twist. Portions, particularly starters are small but not miserly - my (very large) boyfriend and I both left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. French food can often be heavy, but the dishes at Savoir Faire are executed with a light hand. The aubergine canelloni starter was delicately smoky, and the mussels came poached in Pernod and garlic in an escargot dish. Meaty mains of chicken supreme and lamb both came with thoughtful variations on the French meat and bean tradition. Puddings were chocolate mousse and creme brulee, also lovely, although the mousse is RICH. Do not attempt to finish it alone... you have been warned!
There is well chosen but affordable wine list ranging from the house wine which may be bought by the carafe, up to a Chablis at £26. We chose a very nice French Pinet on the recommendation of our waitress. On the subject of the staff, we were made to feel really at home, and never neglected even though the restaurant was quite a busy. It is rare to find a restaurant in London where the proprietors muck in with the waiting staff so smilingly.
So... I would absolutely recommend Savoir Faire to anyone wanting a reasonably priced, well executed, informal meal in central London. Because it was a special occasion we spent quite a bit more, but that was our choice; at two courses for £18 with a house wine for £12 you could easily make this a mid-week treat without breaking the bank.

This is a truly outstanding restaurant. I'll start my review by recommending that you pay a visit.
Everything about this restaurant is absolutely on the ball. It might look like a quirky Parisian hideaway, but it's actually an efficiently-run independent restaurant in our very own West End.
They have special 2-course deals and pre-theatre menus that are surprisingly good value and leave enough room in the wallet to fit in a dessert as well! When 2 people can eat 3 courses, decent wine and a digestif for £60 in Central London, there's not much that can be said apart from "is that right?" And it was right. That was the correct price.
Most reviewers seem to have covered the atmosphere already, but I would state that one should really aim to sit *downstairs*. That's the atmospheric bit, so you might want to be specific when making a reservation.
Service could not be faulted and we were even exchanging a few rounds of jokes with the staff. They did bring one wrong dish out, but corrected it pretty quickly, so top marks for that.
On the food front, what can I say? This must be the best French food I've had in London, so I can't see any reason why this can't be a perfect 10.
I'm looking forward to going back as soon as I can.
