Thai Metro

If you charge below-average prices then you need above-average work rate to generate the same profit. This is the business philosophy behind Thai Metro, which is why diners who are happy to accept cheap-and-cheerful cuisine are prepared to put up with fast-and-furious service. This works well for me at lunchtime, when time is a premium. The quick-selection lunch menu has plenty of choice but don’t expect 5-star dishes at 2-star prices. If all you are after is a quick-in, quick-out meal then there are few better in the area.

Have been here loads of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. However. my last visit had me vowing never to return again.
Me and my friend had the vegetarian snack box for starter. Every time i have been before, it has cost me £4.95 in total for two people.
On my last visit they charged me £9.00, I was fuming! I did point this out to the waiter who then said that it had always been this price. It hadn't...he was lucky i didn't have an old receipt in my purse to prove it.
Don't get me wrong £9.00 for a starter for two isn't bad. But this was not the normal vegetarian snack box i had eaten many times before. The portion size had been cut in half. Our started consisted of one tiny spring roll each, a tiny piece of tofu, some deep fried onion and 2 chunks of carrot, and a small corn cake each. All of this was greasy and tasteless. Oh and there were pickled vegetables too...needless to say these were gross and we left these. All of this came with an unidentifiable dip....
This starter used to be double the size, served with crispy noodles, satay sauce and chilli dip- and was lovely.....AND COST £4.95!!
We had the curries for main which were nice. Although again the portion sizes had been cut in half.
Really disappointed and wont be going back. Have told all my friends this too.

I have come to this place several times with friends who have chosen to come here because it is fairly cheap and the service is fast. However, the food (greasy noodles, bland Pad Thai, disgusting green curry and Jasmine teas,..,,) is mediocre at best, microwaved starters, waiters visibly blowing their noses and then delivering your food..yuck!, female Thai servers who have the manners and etiquette of the Adams family, grabbing your plates without ever asking you if you have finished. Moreover, the main Thai waiter is unfriendly and always has the unfailing talent of making you feel like a stranger regardless of how many times you have come in ....even though we have left more than the discretionary tip many times! On our last visit, they were especially rude to us, we all vowed never to return here again! Do yourself a favour, be prepared to wait a little longer on service and you'll find much better food and friendlier staff in the area.

I may have been unlucky in selecting, but the massaman curry chicken with potatoes and peanuts was grey, mild and milky, not at all fiery and exciting.
The service was quick and efficient and the place was full and quite noisy.
Lunch was redeemed by a pud of delicious alphonse mango and sticky rice, but for real thai curries with sweet, sour and hot flavours, Thai Cottage in Soho and Mantanah in Norwood Junction have set the bar much higher.

A little cramped, but prompt service and delicious food. Our favourite lunch spot for some time. At £7.50 for 2 course lunch in this location it's a bargain!

I am big fan of Thai food, and have to say this is in of the best Thai restaurants in London. Food is always fresh and excellent, very good value for money (for London prices). Service is always quick. Restaurant is small but have a downstairs, is not a problem. I go out of my way to go here as definitely worth it

We ended up in this restaurant by accident. We planned to take the advantages of the special offer in Dim T in Charlotte street, but did not know that we had to book this in advance. It was quite late and I was exhausted, my friend was extremely hungry. We browsed around in the same street and ruled out very expensive choices such as Roka. Did not know what happenened that night, it seemed that every restaurant on that street was full with long waiting list. Somehow we stepped in this one and waited only for 20 minutes. The food was not bad, the place is very tiny and crowded, but I kind of enjoyed with my eyes and stomach half-sleep. But I do not think I will go there again. It is just an accident.
