As there was 8 of us, we chose 4 gold and 4 silver set menus at £29 and 23 respectively. The food was fresh and well seasoned though I thought a bit too heavyhanded with the fish sauce. The service was quick but not very thoughful. All the meat dishes were put on one end and the seafood ones on the other. Although there was enough food, they only dished out one heaped spoon of rice. When a new bottle of wine was brought out, the ones with the empty glasses were missed out. This happened several times. The waiting staff seemed rushed and there was a lot of leaning over to retrieve plates. It is certainly busy and very noisy so not somewhere to go for an intimate meal.

We recently visited the Thai Square and were very pleased with what we found. We arrived at 10pm on a Friday evening and were pleased to find that they could accomodate us. The staff were very professional and the food was excellent. We started with the mixed platter which arrived promptly, despite the restaurant being still very busy. We had a curry and a stir fry accompanied by sticky rice and noodles and which was cooked to perfection.

If you want an unfussy, good value for money (especially considering it's location), you would have to try very hard to find it better than this. The area itself if surrounded by the ubiquitous chains so this is highly recommended as a break from the norm.

I went to Thai Square last night with 5 work colleagues. The building is impressive and gives you the feeling that you might be in for something special. Unfortuneatly this was far from the case. I have no particular problem with the service although It is not worthy of compliment either. My problem is the food - in my view this the worst Thai food I have ever eaten. I suppose that I should just accept this restaurant for what it is - a tourist trap with no relgular customers. Its just a shame that I didn't read your reviews before visiting.

Have eaten here several times. It becomes more disappointing with each visit. The staff always seems annoyed. Annoyed that we do not order more quickly. Annoyed that we would like the white wine chilled and not warm. Annoyed that we would like to food served hot and not brought to us tepid. They do very little to disguise the fact that they want to flip tables quickly. One course is dumped on the table before the previous one is completed. It used to be a treat. It has become a trial. You could do better for the price.

I recently booked a table for seven people – all seemed fine at first, no problem with taking the booking. When I phoned a few days later to add an extra person I was then told that due to the time of year we would have to order off the special Christmas menu. As I realise it’s a very busy time I said it would be OK as I had already arranged the restaurant with all my party, but it would have been nice to have been told that initially!

The first impressions of the restaurant are amazing but sadly the food and service does not live up to it. The waitress was surly and practically sighed when some of our table took a long time deciding what drinks they were having. It also seemed as though they couldn’t get rid of us fast enough – one of the waiters grabbed a starter plate off the table and then asked if we were finished having already taken the plate!

One of the starter dishes - the Pad Thai to share - was stone cold. I had to wait for my vegetarian main course, I asked the waitress, who came back five minutes later, only to tell me that they had run of that item. I was suggested an alternative - when it arrived it looked like some pak choi and mushrooms with a bit of soya sauce added– barely adequate as a side dish but certainly not as a main course. The other main dishes were equally nothing to get excited about.

I have eaten in other branches of Thai Square before and never had a bad meal – all I can say is give this branch – and the “special” Christmas menus a miss!

After looking at this restaurant's website menu I booked a table for 2 for my birthday. The website did not have any prices and when I arrived at the restaurant I understood why...its outrageously expensive. I've eaten in dozens of Thai places both in Thailand and the UK and Thai Square is a complete ripoff. A red curry was around £15 and a laab pla - fish salad - nearly £20. As someone who also cooks Thai food regularly at home and knows how much the ingredients cost I couldn't justify spending this sort of money on food that clearly wasn't worth it. I also found the service to be indifferent and there are so many tables in this place it felt more like Macdonalds than an expensive restaurant. We drank a glass of wine, made our excuses and left for dinner in Chinatown.

This is the kind of restaurant that can afford to skip a few essentials because of its location. They know customers will always come in so no need to go the extra mile. One waitress in particular on Saturday evening needs a crash course in customer service. First she brought us the wrong wine. Second, she brought me the wrong soup. Last but not least I got a green curry instead of a red, at which point I could no longer be bothered asking to change. Everything was rushed and we did not feel welcome. I strongly recommend to choose a smaller restaurant if you want to experience the real Thai hospitality.

I have eaten at Thai Square before and really enjoyed the experience. My partner and I enjoyed a bottle of Chilean wine and ate food that hit every tastebud! The chicken & coconut soup was sensational! I was so impressed with the lovely, impeccable service and smiley happy staff. The evening really was an unforgettable one and I am planning a meal there again near Christmas time and I really look forward to it.

Having only read the reviews after going there I can advise that the service has certainly changed.

during the evening we were waited on head and foot by 4 different staff who were continually topping up wine/water glasses on each pass. Staff we exceptionally friendly.

food was superb, the best Chicken Penang I have had (certainly had a few)

Only bad comments were the toliets were 3rd world standard, but I've seen worse.

Having read all the comments on the bad service of this restaurant I decided to take the risk and give it a go. I took my girlfriend here and it was both our first visit to this restaurant. When we arrived, 'WOW' it certainly did look grand BUT don't get excited as it was downhill from there.

Upon entry we were greeted by a waitress who could not find my name on the reservations list but hey it only took her 2 minutes to get us seated so no big deal. Once seated we had a look at the wine list but there was one thing missing, the MENU!!! Having tried and failed to get the attention of a waitress and considering we were right next to the bar we decided that we would give them another 5-10mins and if no one paid us attention we would get up and go somewhere else. No need! A waitress noticed we did not have a menu and was apologetic and took our wine order and gave us a menu. The food was with us fairly quickly. We were very impressed with the seafood salad but the main meal i am sorry to say was ok but nothing amazing. When we saw that there was not enough rice for the two of us I decided to attract the attention of a waitress running towards the door to order some more to which i was given a sign as if to say, 'Wait I shall be with you soon'. Well she ignored us! Now the funny thing is that after reading all the bad comments about the service I quickly realised that this was all true after the first 10 minutes of being in the restaurant. As we were eating our meal I actually overeard an American couple complaing to one guy I thought must be the manager or assistant manager about theirs being the worst service they have ever experienced in a Thai restaurant and the funny thing is that during our wait to get a waitress this same guy was just standing by the bar looking around and doing NOTHING! Not even asking a waitress to come over to us. Why was he there? Well he certainly wasn't there for the decor i can tell you that! Overall impression was this is a fabulous looking restaurant but the service is awful and the food from what we ordered was pretty standard. The cost of the meal for 2 people with a bottle of wine came to just under £50, which i thought was reasonable but the service certainly did not deserve a tip. We shall not be going back to Thai Square again and i suggest that neither do you.
