Having read the mixed reviews I was hoping to have an experience more like the positive reviews but .............whilst the food was fantastic the staff and service were not great. The manageress was very "shouty" and the waitresses didn't really speak to us and were quite "remote". The atmosphere is lacking in character and the constant noise of the manageress washing the dishes loudly in the sink behind the bar was very irritating. The staff seemed to spend the whole time yapping at each other in thier shared language.
I probably wouldn't go again, despite how good the food was. Perhaps they add the service charge automatically because they know they won't get one otherwise.

Zoom's become a local regular in Marylebone, This is a place with buzz and about 10-14 tables counting the outside and is cozy, airy and completely unpretentious. Food is consistently excellent, tasty and the host is a trip - almost like going to an opera, constant activity and set changes as it were. In any event a ively buy down home place with exceptionally light fresh and delicately seasoned cooking with a very good vareity of meat, fish, fowl and pasta or rizzoto as well as appetitizers,, eg calamri or chicken liver salad : great an innovative. Only issue is prices seem to be creeping up but that's London. Ed Mitri Lodnon

Visited Zoom in July 2006. What a fabulous restaurant! Warmly greeted by a most gracious host and hostess. From the devine bread and olives on the tables to most delicious seered tuna (done just like home in Cape Town, South Africa), pasta and meat dishes - all of us were more than satisfied with our food. We loved sitting outside watching the world go by and when we return to London, Zoom will surely be on our itinerary.

This is my local restaurant and by far my favourite. I always feel looked after, especially when I go there alone. The food is delicious, especially if you like seafood. My favourite is definitely the calamari starter followed by the steak. The restaurant is small but in an intimate way. The service has always been good and definitely value for money. I recommend it highly!

I loved it! Went there last night for my husband's birthday with a couple of friends. If you're a fan of tuna like myself do yourself a favour and go there. The service was decent, the atmosphere buzzy and the food delicious. My husband ordered the scallops to start followed by calves liver. I'm not a liver fan so can't comment but my hubby loved it. Excellent and friendly. I recommend it.

We went to Zoom last Saturday, and I have to say that it was the worst dinner I had in London so far.
The wine had cork, but when we mentioned this to the waitress, she said that we were wrong and that this was just the taste of the wine (!). The tuna we ordered was raw (we asked for medium) and cold. Our waterglasses, and even one of our plates, were dirty. The staff was very rude, upon arrival they only said 'have you booked?' in an aggressive manner, no welcomes or anything, and they continued to be rude throughout the evening. It took 25 minutes for the bill to arrive, and when we said that we didn't want to pay the discretionary service charge of 12.5%, they first said that this was not possible; we had to explain to the staff what 'discretionary' means.... Our change was literally thrown on the table, again in an agressive manner.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Lovely little neighbourhood restaurant. Went with a friend on a warm summer's evening and sat on one of the tables outside. Good varied menu - had some excellent scallops to start with and a good cod dish for main.

My girlfriend & I went to this Restaurant last night, enjoyed the food & the attentative staff, but unfortunately when it came to the discretionary tip they had assumed that they could charge 12.5% without question. In seeing this we were a little upset to see yet another resturant make such a rude assumption. In addition the 'bread' that was asked if we would like with the Entre came on the bill at £5 a serve. Don't get me wrong the service was great and again the food was great, so we tipped 10% above the nett & sudsequently watched the young waitress receive a berating from the Manager for not checking what the restaurant thought it should receive. With behaviour like this I would hate to assume that the tips that this restaurant receives goes straight into the Managers pockets as oppossed to the equal distribution amoung the staff. Lastly to state we will not be returning.
