Good food (although as noted by others, some of the starters are on the small side), lovely cocktails and a nice environment. BUT - and this a big but - be extremely careful if you're considering a group booking that requires a deposit to be paid. I had a birthday dinner there over a month ago, for which I was asked to pay a £50 deposit for 10 people to reserve the table. In spite of numerous phone calls - all made by me - and assurances to sort it out, I am STILL waiting to have my money returned to me. Which I think is pretty disgraceful, and certainly discourages me from returning and recommending to friends what was an otherwise decent experience.

I went to mango rooms for my birthday and had a group booking of 14 people 2 did not show up the staff showed their disaproval of this and was quite negative asking about whether these people will show up.
The food was alright nothing to write home about but the service was appalling had to wait near enough an hour for our main course. One of the plates came to us dirty when we alerted the waiting staff they were not very apologetic. A few of us had to keep asking for our drinks as they had forgotten to give it to us.
We were the last group of people to arrive for the evening but in all the whole attitude of the staff was as though they were rushing to finish up with us so they could go home.
In all honesty (and i'm trying not to be biased due to my not so good experience of dining here) i feel that for a large group this is not the place to go maybe the staff can better handle couples or smaller groups.
Staff seemed unenthusiastic and not very polite when ever we stated something to them: e.g not receiving our drinks or that one of our plates are dirty, rather than apologise they would get on the defensive.
I must say the food was ok, but just ok I have been to other caribbean retaurants were the food is much tastier and the service 1000 times better.

I have been visiting the mango rooms for over 10 years now for every anniversary, today is my 11th year anniversary, yesterday i called asking for my favourite roti-bread to be saved for me as its the only dish i eat there, i was told there was enough and that none could be saved, today my husband called to make the table reservation and guess what? they have sold out of roti-bread, and i am none too pleased, now we have to make alternative arrangements regarding dining out.
I tried to make sure that my day was not ruined in adance but it could not be helped. I believe in light of the fact i have been a regular visitor throughout the year and every anniversary that my request to have roti-bread saved for me should have been carried out.
An extremely dissapointed regular customer.

Went to the Mango Room for a large birthday party. Although the group arrived over a 1 hour period which, judging by the waiting staff, didn't go down well, the food was enjoyable. We had a choice from the set menu, ranging from £20 for two and £24 for three courses. I opted for the Seafood Soup as my starter as I was surprised to note the for the other choices you only received two small cod fish fritters and a piece of lettuce for decoration and two tiger prawns with said decoration as the other choice. (Not value for money in my eyes) Where as the soup was filling withadditional side dish of harddough bread.
I opted for the fish of the day which was king fish and it was delicious. The side dishes arrived steaming hot with no complaints.
The service was good having to cater for 25 and I thought the staff managed well.

I've been here a bunch of time and am slightly addicted to the goat curry. The food is really good, but the service can be just terrible. I would recommend it, but go forewarned that the time between your start and main might be an hour!

dreadful place...we will never go there again
we waited 45 mins for a starter and whle the soup was tasty and value for money the same could not be said of the fritters...puny and probably costing less than 10p to make and it showed.
We had to ask, twice for our main course and although one dish was supposed to have tiger prawns ...they had run out... the remaining fish was ok I suppose but lacked any pzazz the meat dish was average. Theire xcuse for the delay was 'they were busy' my answer ....then dont book so many people in if you cant cope
When the bill came it still included the price of the prawns although they had the sense to knock off the service charge.
If you are going I would suggest you tried to be first in ....that way you may get the food you want and in a reasonable timeframe....my personal suggestion is that you go visit a far superior Caribbean in Chalk Farm.
This restaurant ruined a once in a rare occasion night out for us

Spontaneously called early evening and got a table "as long as we gave it back by 9" (which we did - a deal is a deal).
I haven't been for a few years and I'm glad to say this place is still very good.
The chicken wings were excellent, whilst the saltfish fritters were stodgy and really not very nice. The salmon tartare was also very good - fresh and tasty.
We had a pretty good bottle of Riseling and fish each. Brilliant sauces with our mains - with peppercorns, tyhme and mango in them - yummy. The fish was spanking fresh and expertly cooked.
One criticism - they like to pour the wine for you, but then the waiters constantly walk past your table when I had an empty glass (often "looking" at the table without noticing). The ice bucket was beyond my reach, so wished I could go DIY.
Pudding was some kind of bananas and ice cream number - pretty good fro £5.
An enjoyable meal. Still a deservedly popular place.

A small party of us went to this resturant a few Saturdays ago. I was glad to see we were offered 2 set menues one at £20.00 and one at £25.00. This makes it easier when your in a group as its easier when it comes to the bill.
The food was really nice I opted for the crab cakes, although you only got 2 small ones. My partner had the Ebony Wings , again he said they were lovely.
The mains were quite large I thought however, the jerk chicken was far too hot, in fact there was so much spice in it that it overpowered the chicken.
My partner had the curry mutton ( no bones in that!) which again was lovely but too many peppers in it.
The drinks were not too bad but the cocktails and rum punches put the price up as they are quite expensive.
All in all we had a lovely night, no complaints and having been many times before we will def be going back.

I took my mum to the Mango Room for her birthday! We were a party of four and found both the food and service to be second to none! I can't wait to return and try more of the food and cocktail menu! Thanks to the staff for being so friendly and helpful!
