your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

i decided to try it out as i passed it so many times on my way to work, and my favorite restaurant, Bintang which allows bring your own wine, was fully booked. like a few people here i was a bit apprehensive because of the mixed reviews.

i went in, got a few weird looks, may because i was still clutching my wine... i wasnt really expecting too much...... but that shortly changed.... after i saw the prices! price was high, but hey, nice venue, why not??

ordered scallops for a starters (the most expensive starter) and what i got was three small pieces scallops which resembled polo mints or shall i say the the piece that belonged to the hole in the polo, dotted with a couple pomegranate pips and the the melon salsa, which looked at though someone sneezed. everything just looked like garnishes!

for mains i ordered curry goat, roti and my partner ordered the snapper.

the fish - over cooked and tasteless

the"famous" curry goat - bland bland bland. its must be famous for being the most expensive curry goat in london!!

the roti - to be fair it wasnt bad... well half of it was. the other half was hard.. which the waiter later explained was in the microwave for too long!?

food was too pretentious, price was too high, service was standard, but didn't feel personal.

should of went home, should of booked at bintang, should of got a kebab, shoulda woulda coulda. lesson learnt.

Great food and a pleasant setting, but disorganized front of house. Last night we were kept waiting nearly half an hour for a 9.30pm booking, as they were clearly failing to turn around tables from the first sitting. We weren't the only customers kept waiting. Staff were pleasant but the maitre'd was pretty arrogant. This is the second time this has happened, so sadly I won't be back

I have to say that we went with slight trepidation after seeing the mixed reviews on here. When we had to wait by the entrance for a good few minutes before anyone came to seat us, we were actually wondering whether to go somewhere else. Glad we didn't ! When we were seated, the staff were excellent - the service is only poor because there are so few of them in relation to customers !

The food was fantastic - sweet potato and plaintain fritters weren't bad but the pumpkin soup was better. The jerk chicken was excellent and the creole salmon my partner had was the best salmon she'd ever had in London ! Chocolate and coconut cake after was extremely satisfying, as was the fried bananas in rum.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. If they had a few more waiting staff, they would have cracked it.

The food was ghastly and the price even more gross. The food was very unathentic and very pretentious. Service was incredibly slow had to wait 45mins for a booked table!

Food was pleasant but never made it to spectacular. My King Fish was tasty, but not fresh enough to be really memorable. My partner's main, the coconut risotto with okra, was an imaginative and beautifully plated combination, but felt a bit like a token veggie option.

Rum punch cocktail was great: fruity, fresh and disguising a good wack of alcohol.

Service was efficient and the atmosphere pleasant. I would be happy to return.

About 14 of us went to the Mango Rooms last weekend for a birthday dinner.

We have been here many times before and I have never had a problem. The service was excellent everything organised and prompt and the food was lovely and fresh .

I opted for the crab fritters, you only get 2 ( 3 would be better) but they were delicious, and following this I had the lamb steak which was pretty large , served with rice n peas , and plantin. My partner had the Ebony wings as his starter and the coconut chiken as a main. He too thought his was really nice and although the Ebony wings were very messey they were a big hit with the group.

Everyones meal was good we had no complaints, from the salmon to the prawn dishes each plate was cleared. The only meal that looked very bland was the curry goat, but funny enough if you read some of the reviews on this site there has been some negitive comments about this dish in the past.

All in all we had a lovely night , and although we love Cottons which is in Camden this proved less of a headach as the evening went well with great service and there was no long delays waiting for courses.

We will be back again very soon.

10/10 for the whole evening

Went here on Wednesday, I had the fish in a coconut and tomato sauce, my partner the duck. Both were absolutly delicious... A great menu and quick but not hurried service. You would definatly only come for the food though, as it is in a bit of a dodgy location and the room itself is not up to much. But I go to restaurants primarily for the food and I wasnt disapointed on this front

We ate at the Mango Room recently and absolutley loved it. The cod fritters with apple chutney starter were particularly good although I would recommend a side dish with main courses. We went for the gaot's curry and the cocnut curry chiken, both amazing. Chilled out and relaxed atmosphere, would definatley go again!
