Spontaneously called early evening and got a table "as long as we gave it back by 9" (which we did - a deal is a deal).

I haven't been for a few years and I'm glad to say this place is still very good.

The chicken wings were excellent, whilst the saltfish fritters were stodgy and really not very nice. The salmon tartare was also very good - fresh and tasty.

We had a pretty good bottle of Riseling and fish each. Brilliant sauces with our mains - with peppercorns, tyhme and mango in them - yummy. The fish was spanking fresh and expertly cooked.

One criticism - they like to pour the wine for you, but then the waiters constantly walk past your table when I had an empty glass (often "looking" at the table without noticing). The ice bucket was beyond my reach, so wished I could go DIY.

Pudding was some kind of bananas and ice cream number - pretty good fro £5.

An enjoyable meal. Still a deservedly popular place.

A small party of us went to this resturant a few Saturdays ago. I was glad to see we were offered 2 set menues one at £20.00 and one at £25.00. This makes it easier when your in a group as its easier when it comes to the bill.

The food was really nice I opted for the crab cakes, although you only got 2 small ones. My partner had the Ebony Wings , again he said they were lovely.

The mains were quite large I thought however, the jerk chicken was far too hot, in fact there was so much spice in it that it overpowered the chicken.

My partner had the curry mutton ( no bones in that!) which again was lovely but too many peppers in it.

The drinks were not too bad but the cocktails and rum punches put the price up as they are quite expensive.

All in all we had a lovely night, no complaints and having been many times before we will def be going back.

I took my mum to the Mango Room for her birthday! We were a party of four and found both the food and service to be second to none! I can't wait to return and try more of the food and cocktail menu! Thanks to the staff for being so friendly and helpful!

I went to Mango Room on the yesterday for my sisters birthday and it wasn't the best.

The waiter was pleasant considering we were a party of about 15. Service was kind of slow, it took ages to get our drinks and when the food finally came we were minus two meals.. The food on the plates were so small that I can't believe they charged that much!

The staff were a bit weird too, they kept hovering in the shadows by the door watching us.. Creepy.

However, as I said, they were pleasant, the mains were nice, the starters not. The decor was rubbish and the chairs were appaulling.

I wouldn't go there again, nor would I recommend it. I've had better and more Caribbean food in my friends' kitchen.

We dined at the venue on Saturday 10th January and had a good experience. The atmosphere is relaxed with the music playing in the background and reasonably priced and food delicious. However: We were not informed at the time of booking that the restaurant is partly under renovation!

Firstly, it took us 25 minutes to get served with drinks, secondly, a new menu was underway - differing from the website, this would have been ok if we had been told as soon as we sat down at table, as this meant some starters were unavailable and because friends of ours had been before and wanted a certain starter, this caused dissapointment as couldnt be offered, albeit you can order plantain and sweet potato which was indeed what my friend wanted but we were told this could not be combined in the same bowl to make a starter??!!

Thirdly, our waiter as pleasant as he seemed advised that they could only offer cocktails as on the menu, we asked for 'sex on the beach' which was not on this menu and eventually he checked with the bar man who said he would mix for us but this was after several 'no's 'from the waiter, until we suggested he checked with the barman.

Fourthly, we requested a cup of tea to be told the machine was broken, (although a couple opposite had tea), we suggested a kettle or saucepan to boil water and was told it couldnt be done, no hot drinks..... we then questionnned and pointed out the other couple with hot drinks and the waiter eventually said 'oh the machine is now working!'

I just believe he should have said all along, I will check for you, rather than constant 'nos'!

The experience would not put us off returning again, however, the waiter would indeed need to be a little more customer focused , we are fairly easy going but really felt this was a tough experience and if we had not been before would not be too keen to return, wich is a real shame as this has everything going for it.

Once fully operational and may be this was the waiters first night :)so may be inexperienced? we will try again nest time we are in the area and hope last nights experience was a one off.

I went to the Mango Rooms for the first time on saturday 6th December and found the place to be lovely. The food was delicious and the service was great.

It was my birthday and they brought me a complimentary glass of Champagne, with a Strawberry boasting a candle which i thought was a wonderful gesture.

I will certainly go again

i went to the mango room for the first time after having heard rave reviews about the place. I went on a monday night so as to avoid the crowds that people kept warning me about, however, i needn't have worried as my group of 4 friends were the only people there, which was very surprising to me as it was 7pm. I ordered the jerk chicken and sweet potato mash. While my main course was nice, i do not think it was worth the price. My friend ordered the goat cheese starter, but for the amount of money you pay, you get a very small amount of food. We all ordered the warm chocolate and coconut cake, however, the cake was cold and was standard in terms of taste. overall, the food was very standard and the service was very slow, considering the fact that we were the only table in the restaurant!! The night was very over priced and the food was very standard, probably isn't worth the journey there.

I have been eating on and off at the Mango Room for years ; in fact pretty much since it opened. The food over the years has remained consistently good and the prices are fine. All of those reviewers who say it is expensive must be on the dole; £12 for a main is pretty reasonable wherever you go. In the old days I feel the place had a better atmosphere but times change and as long as you can still get the basics right then your going to be ok. The Jerk chicken is always great as is the curried goat. I have yet to have a bad meal there.

Fantastic food, the sea food plater of large shrimp, scallops and seabass with a mango and salsa chutney is amazing and so is the mango and banana brulee. Great atmosphere and would definitely recommend it!

Went here for my birthday with 10 friends and found the food to be massively overpriced, especially once I saw the portions!

Later left the restaurant only to be called and told I needed to pay an extra £60 as they had deducted this from the bill for some reason. Food was average, service fine but money wise I could never be tempted there again!
