What a disappointing experience. Although pleasant, sharp-suited staff were welcoming, they were clearly embarrassed by the quality of the dishes on offer last Saturday. Lots of Game Pie ordered and lots going back with lots of uneaten pastry and lots of questionable filling. The pigeon breast was tough and tasteless but the raw beetroot was lovely (although sparse on the plate). The trout was almost as good as Bird's Eye's version still swimming in a vat of melted and very salty lurpak with tasty but very salty burnt almonds. The creme brulee was creme brulee.

Cost nearly £80. We live and learn

Me and my girlfriend came down to London for a Christmas shopping weekend and made a booking for lunch at Foxtrot Oscar - what a fantastic idea. It was superb from start to finish. We have eaten at Boxwood before which was very good but this was better still. The head of service was exempolary, greeting us with the most amazing raspberry vodka bellinis ever. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, its great value, great food, and great service.

Having come to London on short notice we were happy to discover that you can book a table at noon for the same day 8pm. We haven't been to any other Gordon Ramsay restaurant and chose this venue for the menu and prices that were displayed online.

The whole experience was truly delightful. The service staff was excellent, the decor stylish but not too stuffy and the food definitely exceeded our expectations.

We had the scallops and the duck terrine as a starter, beer-braised ox cheeks and the lamb for our main and lemon sorbet for desert. We got a very decent bottle of Montepulciano for £17 and even the espresso after our dinner was delicious.

The portion sizes were more than generous, we struggled to finish our main courses due to the size of the meat.

Overall this has been one of my best culinary experiences so far and the bill was more than appropriate for the quality of food we had enjoyed.

I would like to mention that my son informed me that he had booked for the two of us to go to this restaurant for my birthday. I have to confess I secretly read the reviews and was apprehensive about the lunch! However, we had a really enjoyable lunch together at 2.pm on Saturday 28th Nov.The restaurant was full, the staff were very friendly especially the charming Italian waiter from the Amalfi coast, the food was enjoyable I had the Ceaser Salad with a poached egg, and as a main course I had the guinea fowl my son had potted beef and the steak pie, with french beans We sat at the table for two to the left of the entrance, and enjoyed the busy atmosphere.

First impression was a disappointment when, on arrival at 18.05, we had to join a queue waiting in the pouring rain. The doors opened at 18.08. We were invited to look at the menu and told of the day's specials - one starter and two main courses. We chose the specials but when it came to placing our order with a different waiter (the manager) he knew nothing of the specials we had been told of and mentioned completely different starters. Having overcome the first communciation breakdown, we ordered. The waiter then returned to tell us that he could not provide the fish special as described as the ingredients for the sauce had not arrived from Claridges. We chose the proffered alternative. The starter arrived. Only one portion. The waiter accepted that we had ordered one each, apologised and eventually brought the two starters. The main courses arrived on cold plates and one of the meals was luke warm. The desserts were acceptable but on ordering two coffees we were again served with just one until further complaint was raised. We had ordered a jug of water. There was insuficient room on the small table for a jug but our glasses were not filled when emptied. The food was of acceptable quality but there was no evidence of flare or imagination that one might expect from a GR establishment.

I wish we had read the reviews before going to this this bland and uninspiring restaurant. We came to try the set menu which has been promoted on the internet by lastminute.com.

On entering we were greeted with tables crowded together and plastic bench seats to suit. The decor was bland which made the whole place look somber, and we haven't even sat down yet. The service was polite, robotic with no personality in the staff.

Now onto the meal, warm bread was served with butter, but no side plates were given to put your bread on, obviously they wanted to save on the washing up. My prawn cocktail starter was loaded with prawns and served on a bed of salad, topped with a runny tasteless pink substance. My partner's pork terrine was rubbery and tasteless, however the piccalli was the highlight of her whole meal. Our main courses were steak and ale pie and steak onglet. No side dishes came with it, you got a pie and a steak and that's it. A side order of two carrots cut into quarters and a small serving of bland powdery mash was £7.00. Each of these I have tasted better from tesco's.

To sum up, if you haven't already guessed, this in one major let down which we had to pay for. If you are thinking of going and having to travel in like we did, save yourself the time and money. You will get better food and value for money from a Beefeater, Harvester or a good local pub. Foxtrot Oscar is no better than a old time transport cafe, which is an insult to transport cafes.

Went in over the weekend and it's really hard not to agree with the recent Evening Standard review on FO. Cramped interior in bizarre colours, lobster pie with no sign of lobster inside. Staff friendly enough, did apologise for the situation and offered to get me a new dish... Definitely not worth the short walk from King's Road.
