First ate at Grumbles prior to seeing 'Hair' in 1968. Excellent then and visited early this year and it was deja vu. Excellent starter, fabulous steaks and yummy puds. Great relaxed atmosphere and service. Will come again and would recommend to anyone.

Went there for a nice, relaxed sunday lunch near home.

To start off with, the food was very good. The menu was appetising and managed to avoid venturing into anything pretentious and over-complex. Can't comment on dessert, which we didn't try, but the starter and main were simple and good.

Found the service very pleasant and efficient despite the restaurant being pretty full. Only one note is that prefer to be able to choose how much I am going to tip rather than be given a suggested 12.5% directly on the bill. However when the food and service are in line with expectations, its not such a problem.

Overall, a good place to go....especially one to highlight amongst the varied restaurant quality in Pimlico.

As a local, will definitely head back again.

My partner and I went there for our first anniversary last night, and will be going back at some time in the near future.

The waiters were excellent, food reasonable, and we paid £60 including service charge for, 2 sirloin steaks, home made chips, bread, olives, bottle of sauvignon blanc, and 2 desserts, and the steaks were cooked exactly as we requested.

In all good value for money, and well worth a reccomendation.

Went there last week for the first time as friends had recommended it and were really impressed. The food was very good and simply cooked, service very pleasant and un-obtrusive and the atmosphere very cosy and intimate with jazzy and soul music in the background. We'll be going back, especially as the prices as refreshingly reasonable. Great find!

I've never been banned from a restaurant before but, after I gave a tip with a value less than the "optional" 12.5% that had been included on the bill, I was informed by the manager that he would not accept my business in future. What terrible service. So when you check the prices, remember to add the extra 12.5%, or you will also be made to feel uncomfortable and find yourself barred. Still, there are plenty of other restaurants in London, so I do not intend to go back.

Sadly dissapointing,

I had phoned ahead to book and unfortunately had to reshedule the times because of my busy schedule though i assured them i would be there.. due to the great reviews on this and other sites, and the recomendation by a chef friend, I though it the obvious and polite thing to do. I was answered on one occasion with a brisk.. 'just get here quickly becuase we cannot hold the table'. Only to arrive to find the restaurant empty. then to be told 'you can only sit here', as the head waiter pionted to a section of the restaurant. and then, to have our menus shoved in our faces and told 'just order now', though the kitchen had a whole 30 mins before it closed. We then were not given time to choose properly and were hovered over until we gave our orders. I asked to be moved to another area as it was my sister's birthday and I wanted it to be slightly special for her.

The meal was average.. being a restauranter, I had obviously had much much better.. The service was close to non -existant and the smiles were false and full of pretense. Did they save the evening by singing happy birthday to my sister? No. I shant be returning and I will be letting many people know not to.

Dined on Tuesday evening with 13 friends, had an excellent time, food and service were great. For such a big group I was delighted we could all order off the a la carte and thus have what we wanted. I didn't see the final bill but the prices looked reasonable.

I have been coming here for over a year and I can't stop! It's such a wonderful place, I can't say a bad thing about it. Delightful staff, beautiful setting, delicious food - it's brilliant! My very hard to please parents were enamoured with the place, so that must be a good sign! It's got to the point where I can't think of anywhere else I'd like to eat, plus I worry that wherever I go will not be as good. It's guaranteed to be a fantastic night out, believe me. Went to the Ivy a few weeks ago and whilst not mediocre, the service was impersonal and prices inflated. Grumbles is always the way to go.
