'Grumbles is one of our favourite restaurants. The food is consistently good and there is always something on the menu to suit every taste. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is cosy. It is rare to find somewhere that has been there for so long and is still as good as it ever was. My daughter would like me to add the puddings are yummy!'

I've been going to Grumbles every couple of years since the 1980s. The restaurant that some people are ' grumbling' about isn't really recognisable to me. I don't think I've ever had a bad, or even only passable meal in Grumbles. The consistency and freshness of the food is one of the things I like about it. I've had wonderfully succulent scallops, delici ous swordfish and tuna, lovely salads, and irresistible deserts. The staff unfailingly friendly, the new ones taking the lead from the ones that have been there a long time and help create the warm welcoming atmosphere. Grumbles is my local restaurant - I recommend it to everyone and hope myself to continue eating there for a long time to come.

I do agree with the reviewers, who claim that they cannot understand why anyone would rubbish this restaurant. I have been eating here regularly for years, and it is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in London. The food is consistent, the service attentive, without being overbearing, and the value is probably the best around. Highly recommended.

I've been to Grumbles three or four times in the past and the food was good thought not spectacular. This was my first time in two years - and I would not go back again. The food was 'school dinner' standard and no better - paté fresh from the supermarket and straight out of the fridge, a beef stew with inedible dumplings and spinach served with raw garlic. Never again.

Just back from a trip to London. We stumbled on Grumbles our first day in town, tired and hungry. The fish and chips were very good (in fact the chips were the best I had throughout my UK stay), the waiter was pleasant and it was clear to us that this place was very popular with locals and tourists. We returned for two more meals, each time the food was fabulous, as was the waiter and atmosphere. We enjoyed leisurely meals, even when they were full up and turning people away.
It is a cozy place as it is small and tables are close together. I found it very charming and would highly recommend it.

Yuck, yuck and yuck!!!
I booked a place for a family occasion there were 7 of us looking forward to a grand Sunday roast. I have to convey my horror that the food served up was very very disappointing. Small portions were served up luke warm on a cold plate with the beef and lamb overdone and very chewy. Not sure what's gone wrong for this place but thus the warning "Do not go" take heed!

I can understand the locals being protective of this place, it has been around for years and it shows. I found the food OK, the staff OK, the prices OK but was not at all wowed by the experience. Dated, safe and cloyingly provinical for somewhere so central.

Whenever I come to London I try to visit this gem of a restaurant. When I read some of the peculiar comments that other reviewers have left I find it hard to believe that it is the same place. Without exception Grumbles delivers excellent food cooked exactly as I have requested, which for dishes like calves liver is extremely difficult to do. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly and never hassle you and ensure that you enjoy your stay. I always find it interesting to look around a restaurant that I am eating in to gain a straw poll reaction from other diners; and in Grumbles that always gives a really positive vibe of people enjoying themselves.
I wii be coming back again and would not hesitate to recommend this place to all of you, long may it so remain.

I have eaten regularly in Grumbles of Pimlico since the 1970s and it has always maintained the most delicious menu and employed the most delightful staff.
Any negative feedback you may have received is probably due to its historic uniqueness not being understood or appreciated.
I do hope that my comments will be published to counteract any unjustified negative ones.
