I regularly eat at Hugo's and the food is absolutely amazing and great value for money. The only thing that lets this place down is the sometimes slow service, however; the food more than compensates for this. Its a fantastic place to lunch though during any season and has such a laid back atmosphere.

I went to Hugo's to see the jazz on Sunday. I was in a really happy mood, Hugos has got a great atmosphere and the music was excellent. But I went home angry and upset. The service was actually offensive. The waiter seated us, and when an extra joined our party demanded we move - in very impolite terms. We did, she sat a party of the same number at the table once we'd left. We got food we didn't order and some of us didn't get any food at all, and no apology just more rudeness. Rubbish.

This restaurant delivers consistently delicious food. I think Hugo's is a wonderful combination of smart but laid back, friendly but not overbearing with classic food and fresh ingredients. The wine list offers decent organic options and an impressive selection of beer and cider.

I admit on occassion the service has been slow but this is not the norm.

I would recommend for brunch, lunch, dinner and especially the Christmas party.

I'm surprised at the negative comments. I've eaten at Hugo's about 3 times including or company's christmas dinner when the waiter's really went out of their way to look after our party. I have always found the service to be excellent even when the restaurant is busy. The food has been excellent and the menu varied. I've always been with a crowd when I've eaten there and we've always left happy with Hugo's.

I think the restaurant was quite nice actually and ignore Ophir Samson's comments. I had a lovely meal and enjoyed it greatly.

Could not disagree more with the last two reviews, I loved the upmarket but relaxed atmosphere; it was stylish without being prententious. The food very much reflesting this, a classy twist to classic recipes - absolutely delicious. And as for the service, all the staff I encountered were very friendly - I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I am astounded at the negative comments regarding this restaurant. I regularly eat here and have always found the service to be excellent and the menu gives good value for money. It is not pretentious but fun.

Pretentious pub that doesn't deliver anything. It's a boring menu (essentially boils down to steaks, lamb shoulder, battered fish), but tries to beef it up to 'haute cuisine' by using words like "concasse", "etouffee" and "duxelle".

Went with three people, each had a started and a main. For £15 a main, you expect something more than something that pale in comparison to a ready meal from your local Tescos. But no, we Tesco pipped it to the post.

The service was terrible too. Waiters were extremely rude and unfriendly, it took 25 minutes to get a glass of wine and one guy on our table had to order his main three times as the previous two were unavailable.

Give your money to charity instead.

If you want to impress someone or make a good impression don't take them to Hugo's.

Unfortunately, customer service is not high on the list nor is quality of food.

They had the right idea when they thought up this place but the execution leaves a lot to be desired and the feeling that you could do it better yourself.
