I have eaten at Hugo's 4 times now and each experience has been the same for me and those with me - OUTSTANDING food and appauling service. Everyone was nice, polite, just not really around. We had to go asking for our drink order 20 minutes after we ordered them. But I forgive (somewhat) the poor service because the food is so original and so utterly edible. I highly recommend the Vegetarian Wellington - even if you're a carnivore, like myself.

First time and really liked it. Lots of choices for both the vege and meateater. Prices are perhaps slightly more than would pay for regular lunch but the food makes it worth it. The chips are gorgeous and the portion size meant I did not have room for dessert... which was a great shame. Will definitely be comnig back and bringing friends.

This restaurant is fantastic. It achieves a relaxed cafe ambiance with fantastic food and a good wine list too. There are a wide range of veggy dishes, however for the more carnivourous there is an excellent range of red meats and fish (all organic of course). Can be a bit crowede so it is worth booking though.

*Loved* this restaurant. The atmosphere was very laid back, the service relaxed (but not negligent) and the food was sublime! The menu was creative and incorporated seasonal elements that made a festive fall dinner even more jubilant. The drinks were delish as well e.g., the best Pimm's I've ever had: like nectar of the gods.

Overpriced food. Not particularly helpful service. One of the worst steaks I've ever been served.Would not recommend.

What a bitter review and an even bitter person. Not only did you give scathing and unecessary feedback, but you also insult regulars to Hugo's by calling them muppets. As someone who has visited Hugo's for the past 4 years I am shocked at your experience. Yes it can be a little on the expensive side, but Ive never felt I didnt get what I paid for. The food has always been lovely (and no, I dont go simply because it's organic, but because I enjoy it) and the atmosphere great. They never rush you and myself and friends have been able to keep a table all night if we so wish.
It's also fab for breakfast, even better if you manage to bag a table outside.

Well, that sour-faced review must have been planted by a competitor. None of these shrewish, billious remarks apply to this delicious, friendly and reasonably priced restaurant. If only it weren't already booked out tonight (as it all too often is), I would have been there, enjoying it.

Well, it wasn't bad, not bat at all, in fact. But grossly overpriced for what it was. If you think that it represents any sort of high-quality food, well, I guess you just can't cook. The menu was rather basic once you get through the flowery language, and often missed the point. for example, a hamburger in a brioche! Paying more attention to the quality of the burger (dry and tasteless), and then serving it in a simple white roll would have been more enjoyable. It was typical of a place that uses the menu to point to where it sees itself, but doesn't deliver. The chips, for example, were obviously home made, but not well cooked at all. The decor left much to be desired. I guess they just left the ceiling and hoped no one would look up! As a business model it shouldn't survive, but I guess there will be enough muppets (with more money than taste) buying into the organic myth to keep it afloat. ;-)
