Ichi Riki is my firm favourite in this area. I have been countless times and it is always excellent. The service is fast and friendly, and the ambiance relaxed. The food is always good and the meal deals are great value. I've been on my own, with friends and business colleagues and have yet to be let down. Top marks.

I went there for lunch. Most of the clientele were white collar workers from nearby offices. It was small but cute place in a small pedestrian alley with lots of character. Service is good. I love sushi, traveled around world a lot and lived in various different countries including Japan. So I think I know what a good sushi would taste like. And sushi here wasn't it. Fish, the most important ingredient, wasn't fresh enough. Rice wasn't well prepared. The cuts weren't right. In the end it was edible food but would not worth another trip from me to this particular location for sushi.

I completely disagree with the previous reviewer's opinion.
I absolutely love Ichi-Riki. The food is always super fresh, delicious and the service is very attentive.
Don't let the rather austere basement vibe put you off - the food is wonderful and if you sit at the bar you can watch the chefs, which is great fun.
That said, if you're looking for glitz and glamour, go to Roka on Charlotte St. This is just good food, well executed. No celebs to spot, no chichi postcode.
In short - great food, great people - a really lovely local sushi restaurant.
