Sadly, after some years of highly satisfactory lunching in the relatively informal but stylish bar area, I have to report grossly unsatisfactory service. Anticipating a busy day, I visited the place at 11.30am and prebooked a table for two, making sure the waiter/manager had a site of my business card in order to get the name right (English not his first language!) When my wife arrived at 1.00 pm he denied having any booking and we ended up at a table right next to the busy till/ordering area. 'No other tables available' .... well, four of them much better sited stayed empty throughout. First course of calmari and crab salad was OK, if a little tired. Then a wait ...... after about 40 minutes, the waitress (bossy but rushing around) dumped the sweet menu on our table ....... we pointed out that we were waiting for the main course, and it was now almost 2.00pm ....... Finally the main course arrived (she did apologise) but my wife's fish cakes had a well congealed cold sauce and my calmari were cold ..... obviously the plates had been standing around. Chips were OK though. The following day I walked past at 1.00pm and the said waiter/manager was standing outside with a cigarette ....... What a shame, it used to be very good. It definitely needs a shake up from someone who cares .......

I have eaten here a few times, I even saw Margaret Thatcher with her husband (just before he passed away) and son one evening, she was sitting right behind me.

The food is very very good, the price might be considered a bit high but compared to other places in London, ain't too bad (£30 pp without alcohol).

The place definitely delivers on the food. You do feel its an upmarket place but that makes it great for wedding anniversaries.

i can only confirm the high ratings for the restaurant. I must admit we were unaware of what we were letting ourselves into since we only wanted quick dinner after a long day, but ended up siting outside in the sun enjoying fantastic food, the waiter was very friendly and patient with our two year old son, who decided to do what boys at that age like to do (...) and spent almost two hours there watching Knightsbridge squirky skewed crowd walk past! We will definitely be back!

I was taken by a good friend of mine who lives approx 1/2 mile away from this fantastic bar/restaurant and have been going on a regular basis for the past two years.

Motcombs is relatively small but full of life and the food has never disappointed me yet. The staff are attentive, welcoming and most friendly. Although it may be slightly pricey for what people would expect i wouldn't complain, the food is fantastic and the service is brilliant- well done!!!!
