Benihana (Chelsea)

I have been to Benihana in Chelsea several times and really like it. I agree with some of the other reviewers when they say that the food isn't exceptional, but I do think that its still very good. The ingredients are fresh, well cooked and what you see is what you get - believe me, this is a good thing!! In a larger group, you can create your own atmosphere as the chefs are very friendly, professional and fun to watch. The prices are quite high, but the restaurant offers its customers a £20 voucher + one year discount card (all for £25) that saves you 15% on all bills (inc. drinks) so you literally make your money back the second time you visit. I give this place 8/10

We went to this restaurant as a group of couples for a special meal the night before NYE 2005.

I must say that on first impressions the restaurant resembled a hotel lobby-very corporate, and lacking much atmosphere. Unfortunatley, the food was not much more inspiring.

The main attraction of eating here is spectacle of the food cooked by your own personal chef at a hptlate set into the tables. Our chef was very nice, and watching him slice up the steak and prawns was the highlight of the evening.

The food itself was quite plain: an onion soup to start which resembled knor stock, passable sushi, and a very bland salad followed by our cooked meat or fish, which was served with onions and bean sprouts.

The first bottle of (white) wine we ordered cost £20 and was dreadful/far too sweet. We then went for a £40 bottle of red instead which, as was to be expectefd for that price, was drinkable.

The meal for 6 of us (without desserts) came to £400.

I don't regret the experience but at those prices for frankly average cuisine, I certainly won't be going again.

Went there first time recommeded by friend, very interesting seeing chef cooking in front, throwing tails of prawns into hat!

Sushi was fresh, food cooked on the grill was very nice.

Overall it was good.

Simply liked it!!

Good food, service, interesting concept that a chef cooks at the big grill in front of customer. nice deco and very fresh food.

I am a long regular of Benihana, chefs entertaining, friendly but professional service, for price... a bit high but affordable. most of special occasions we go there and sometime we can get to sit with celebrities.

We were shocked to see how big and gourgeous the inside. entrance can easily be missed by the fact that it's next to Ann summers...

Food is good but need to get the right chef, luckly we got a great chef who entertained. (table next to us seemed very quiet). Generally good service with speed.

Good for a party not really for a date.

Average food at overinflated prices. Average service and appalling decor - looks like it hasn't been refurbished for about 15 years. Shabby carpets, chairs etc, which is not what you expect for the price of the food and service! Would not go again.
