Benihana (Chelsea)

The place is lovely and really spacious but the restaurant is a joke. I dont remember any other place so overpriced. The mushroom soup, the salad, and the three california rolls are ridiculous taking into account that it's nearly half of the deal. The beef was only 180 gr.... plus the king praws it added to a wooping 36 pounds!!!

I had the feeling of a robbery in front of my eyes. The waitress will keep asking if we wanted more wine as if desperate to sell more. The reason for all this circus is a cunning plan to squeeze money from you. So many nice restaurants around the area. Definitely the worst

I can't remember the last time I paid so much for so little!

Sloppy service, very average food, and hugely over-priced. Our group were underwhelmed.

Too much gimmick, not enough substnce.

Good fun but very average. A perfect tourist place, quite original and nice surroundings. Went on a hot day and really suffered. 7 courses deal is very small.

By far one of the best meals my partner and I have had in London.

The restaurant was amazing to look at as the layout was very original. The staff were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was top notch. There were families, couples, groups of young friends, groups of old friends. The restaurant caters for everyone.

The food is made in front of you so you can see how clean the cooker is, and how well cooked the food is. And the food was delicious, and extreme value for money.

Definitely want to visit again and am thinking of becoming a member.

(also a great place for guys to take a girl they want to impress...i was definitely impressed!)

Fun, fun, fun. If the idea of sharing a large table with random people is not your thing then benihana is not for you, (unless you have lots of friends). Food is fresh and tasty, staff are attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is great but it is a little on the pricey side at the end of the night.

The £15 for 7 courses is a gimmick. There was not enough food as a dinner itself. We should have been warned so that we could have ordered more food. When we realised the dinner was over I wasn't full up but too late to ask for more food. The service was very slow and our steaks was overcooked.They cannot call a bowl of rice or a mushroom cut into two halves as a course.

I complained to the manager after the weekend and he said he will send me £20 voucher but never did.

A gem of a place - unassuming on the outside it almost has the feel of a cheap chinese take away nestled beside ann summers, but once inside and down the corridor you are transported into a cavernous underground area.

The food was delicious - the £15 pound menu was both plentiful and delicious, though we ordered sushi on the side (the sea bass was excellent).

The chef was highly entertaining and would certainly liven up a date that wasn't going according to plan, though we found the staff a little unattentive.

All in all a superb place - great place, great food, great fun - and all through a door with a little neon sign beside a lingerie shop.

If you are going to have sushi, this not the place...The quality of fish and rice wasn't good at all.

Expensive for what it is! I had better Waitros ready packed sushi and that dirty carpet didn't help either. Sorry!

me again...

I went back there (Chelsea) 3 weeks ago for my father's birthday and we all had a fabulous time. The chefs/staff all went to great lengths to make it a very special and most enjoyable occasion. As usual, the food, service and entertainment were all very good plus I saved a small fortune on drinks with my discount card!

I have been to Benihana in Chelsea several times and really like it. I agree with some of the other reviewers when they say that the food isn't exceptional, but I do think that its still very good. The ingredients are fresh, well cooked and what you see is what you get - believe me, this is a good thing!! In a larger group, you can create your own atmosphere as the chefs are very friendly, professional and fun to watch. The prices are quite high, but the restaurant offers its customers a £20 voucher + one year discount card (all for £25) that saves you 15% on all bills (inc. drinks) so you literally make your money back the second time you visit. I give this place 8/10
