Some reviews can be quite harsh and undeserving, however what I have to say about this restaurant cannot be further from the truth.

Where do we begin? I live in Thailand so naturally I am aware of how Thai food are supposed to taste like. One may assume I have high expectations due to my nationality but I have been to addies, thai taste and churchill...all of which may sometime not be truly authetic but has never failed to satisfy my taste buds.

Thai Terrace...honestly they don't deserve to be labelled as a Thai restaurant...truth be told, not even a restaurant. I have never felt so displeased from anything I have eaten in my life, albeit a relatively expensive restaurant.

I got food delivered from this restaurant to appreciate some thai food with a friend. Yet the whole time we sat there looking, picking on the food thinking, 'this restaurant really should stop wasting ingredients'. WIth the appearance dreadful, already being skeptical of the quality, the usual joy of tasting each dish that we had ordered had become a nightmare.

Some of the reviews mentioned the use of excessive tomato sauce and I could not agree more. Since when did tomato sauce play a crucial role in thai food? Not even Italian food contains so much tomato.

If this place had opened purely for the reason for financial benfits from the popularity of thai restaurant in london, for the sake of public, please close down this restaurant. Harsh, I know. But trust me, I am not one to write reviews normally, quite easy to please and can appreciate all kinds of food but, when what you get is a piece of crap, I feel it is my duty to report this to prevent further damage to your stomachs.

Oh, and its overpriced...by a mile. One should be paid for consuming such horrible food.

It's just like garbage.

Also, if you need further convincing, I have plenty more to comment on regarding this restaurant.

The person on the phone, does she speak English? Where is she from? Why is she picking up the phone when she cannot communicate in English? Saying it will take 20 min (fair enough, we can give that perhaps an extra 10 min)...but no, 40 minutes later, we call again where she confirms that the food is currently on the way. And after another 20 min, still waiting for the food and keeping in mind I do live around 5 min away from the restaurant, we call them again and she dares to show annoyance towards us...? Finally you'd think our food will come. But no, when she checks on the delivery woman, god knows what shes been up to...she clearly has no sense of direction or any idea how to get to my place. Honestly, I live in a big building, maybe she needs to go see an optician. or a brain surgeon.

And honestly, what kind of delivery person doesn't hold a pen when she clearly requires a signature? Does the inventory of this restaurant consist of only tomatoes?

Take a guess where the delivered food is currently? Practically untouched and thrown right down the bin. What a waste of 60 pounds.

If you are not put off by this review and still willing to try this restaurant, because...perhaps you're courageous, well its really up to you. Just don't forget to comment later because I have a small suspicion it won't be much different from ours.

If you have any problem with us, feel free to contact us.

I just returned from a leisure trip to London. Contrary to what other reviewers have said here, I found my experience at The Thai Terrace incredible! Wait staff was prompt and courteous. Portions were generous and tasty. The cuisine was authentic. The atmosphere was comfortable inviting. I would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone and will most definitely be a return customer on my next trip to the UK!

We had such a bad experience we cannot tell readers enough to stay away!!! The staff were miserable surly and as previously stated were leaning against the chairs with their arms folded chatting among themselves completely ignoring the diners. To call this a thai restaurant is a gross misrepresentation. The staff are not thai, the ambience and service is nothing like thai. The food is some of the worst we have EVER had in a restaurant anywhere in the world. We left 80% of the food and asked for the bill half way through. No one seemed the least perturbed that we hated it.... be advised we warned you..

I really have to add my say, (although I am not the restaurant-reviewing type), having read only one rational, accurate review of Thai Terrace.

Although I had been warned about going there by a friend, one evening we were stuck for a place at a late hour and in desperation resorted to Thai Terrace. I was really hoping I could tell the friend who had issued the warning that he was mistaken, that he must have had a one-off bad experience, that the place had improved. Sadly, it was not to be.

The food was utterly bland, bore no relation to the exciting Thai flavours I have experienced in a multitude of Thai restaurants both in London and all over Thailand - and it was not cheap to boot. I'm pretty certain the Pad Thai was flavoured with tomato ketchup.

Total waste of an evening. Don't do it.

Reading some of the reviews thought we had visited a different restaurant , myself and my Thai wife recently dined at the Thai Terrace, My wife was surprised when she said hello in Thai to the waiting staff and was told they were not Thai and could not understand, this aside we continued to order with the waiting staff leaning against the chairs listening to what we said, when the starter arrived was of reasonable standard poorly presented with a polystyrene flower for decoration this as it turned out was the highlight of the meal, Thai beer not very cold and the main courses bland and at best mediocre, and to finish the night 15% service charge, will most definitely never eat there again and could not recommend to anyone.

I went to the Thai Terrace for the first time last night with work collegues and had one of the best evenings in a long time. The staff welcomed you with a smile, tooks coats and our table was ready and we were hungry so went straight there!

This restaurant really is beautiful, and the food to match.. melts in your mouth and is served so well and big portions too! Wine .. divine!

Have a great large lougne area with gorgeous sofa's where you can drink cocktails and have a chat..

It is a little more pricy than some other restaurants.. but SO worth it.. and it's certainly not overpriced... starts about £8 (get loads tho!!) and mains up to £14.. I suppose it's the drinks that bump the price up.

I would totally recoomend the place for all ages.. I can't wait to go back! (23/02/07)

I would really recommend Thai Terrace. We went recently for a colleague's birthday party and they really coped with a party very well unlike many places. Food was truly excellent and the service was superb. It is a contemporary style restaurant so if you want to share lots of dishes in traditional Thai fashion this is probably not for you but it's a beautiful venue.

It started promising. They took our coats, the seating was nice and candle-lit. Starters arrived and were just okay -- the tomyam soup was a bit weak and the prawn tempura batter wasn't correct -- it was oily and doughy. Mains arrived and were quite disappointing. The Pad Thai was acceptable, but the seafood and pineapple fried rice lacked both pineapple and taste. I mentioned the omission of pineapple to the waitress, who didn't seem interested.

And who charges 15% service charge? Honestly...

Food: Mediocre at best

Service: Quite good, but overpriced

Atmosphere: Good

Value: Poor

Bottom line: Spend the extra £10 a head and go to Blue Elephant, or spend £10 less and go to Addie's Thai Cafe
