Went for brunch on aSunday. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get a table waited another 10 minutes to be offered a drink. As my waitress walked away with an attitude and an obviously fake smile i hear telling her colleague how she doesn't want to serve my table because she thinks 'i'm such a bitch' comment wich the other waitress laughes at and goes then ahead to take my order, all this been overseen by the manager who i'm assuming is the person sitting people at the door who does absolutly nothing to correct the girl.
No one ever apologized to me whatsoever and i didn't even get a free coffee.
As a costumer i feel highly offended by this kind of behavior and i feel it should not be allowed to treat costumers with such a disrespect. Something really bad about the restaurant is the smell, the bathrooms seem to be essence to smell as you enjoy a big and tasty giraffe burguer. Discusting.
I think overall they need to improve in alot of areas.

I had a lovely evening in this resteraunt tonight. We (my mother and I) were treated graciously and felt the staff were much more than adequate. They were warm and welcoming, but not too over friendly. We were served swiftly and efficiently, and our needs were well accommodated. The staff clearly knew what they were doing, and advised us on menu options. The time passed pleasantly, and before we knew it we and been there a hour and a half, though it seemed much less. I would highly recommend their exceptional Strawberry Shortbread Sundae, ideal for summery evenings in the beautiful setting of Islington. Overall, the mix of the lively atmosphere, the cheery staff, and the delightful cuisine, provided a most amiable and satisfying evening.

I booked this restaurant for my wife's 50th birthday on a Saturday evening in February. There were 16 of us travelling from various place and it was chosen partly because of its location. It is easy to park nearby in the evening. With parties of 15 and over, you are required to prebook a menu with 4 starters and 4 main courses. That's very limiting for the main course, especially after allocating a 'plain' option (burger) and a vegetarian option. The food was OK, with the burger the best received. The staff were very good and friendly, although there was nothing special done in honour of the brthday, except for Happy Birrthday on the pre-printed menu. £404 for meals and drinks for 14 adults and two children. All in all, we didn't have any complaints, but I wouldn't go rushing back either.

food is adequate although overpriced but the service was terible. Stood waiting for 10 mins to be seated even though numerous members of staff passed by without making eye contact, only got seated when complained. Waited another 10 mins before having to ask staff if we could order then looked at by the man as if i was asking for drugs. Food came fairly quickly followed by the bill 10 mins later with out asking and on the bill was an standard 15% service charge. Asked a member of staff so I could object paying this as it was totally undeserved, waited another 15mins in the end left leaving cash on the table. Worst service I have experienced in a long time.

The food is awful, but the staff are friendly and welcoming to children, which is why I end up there a lot. I can't really understand why people without kids would go at all, although they seem to. A further criticism is that there's actually no space for children to wander round when they get bored of their high chairs, they have electric sockets (albeit with metal covers) on the floor, which kids are starngelt attracted to, and the baby changing area isn't very clean.

Lunch with three year old grandson. Not that welcoming, as grandson immediately grabbed the large menu-cum-drawing paper and I requested another, so I could look at children's menu also on it. Told 'no'. For goodness sake, what would it cost them to give me another kids' menu, as it's only a sheet of paper?
Food - nice and we both enjoyed it. But, facing me (and thank God, not facing my little grandson) a sofa with an middle aged woman and a young guy, being very affectionate with each other! Lovely, for them, but not in my face at midday, and actually, not in my face any time. I think the management should have tactfully asked them to move elsewhere.

Visited the Giraffe in South bank, five of us - two children under 10. Menu was great, food and service excellent - i didn't find it too pricey at all for the portions we got. Kids menu was excellent with healthy but delicious options (not just chips and chicken things as in some places). The best thing of all - the Mango Mama smoothies - they were a hit with us all. Will definitely visit again!!

Went here with a friend for Sunday lunch, really looking forward to menu of varied, 'real' food and it was ok, but a bit disappointing.
Didn't like sitting so close to strangers on one of those canteen - style benches, and ate a curry which contained horribly undercooked butternut squash - most unpleasant. A bit overpriced too.
I guess though, it is really a place for young couples to bring their screaming kids to, in those three wheeler pushchairs, rather than anything else!

I have been to Giraffe in Islington 3 times and absolutely love it. The menu is diverse and satisfying; the staff are friendly and welcoming. I have taken friends there for a Saturday night meal who were all very impressed. The atmosphere is great! I am surprised by previous reviews of problems with service etc. as it has always been exceptional! Would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a bit of diversity or something a bit different.
