Thai Square (Angel)

Have been here twice, first time was great but second was below standards. Had a christmas dinner and the waitress's were rude, unfriendly and unhappy. Not a smile from anyone the whole evening. Food ordered came out wrong and people were left waiting 20minutes for water. Over charged. Not sure i'll be back.

I've tried most of the Thais on Upper St and this is probably the best, despite it's chain-like appearance. Dishes aren't cheap but not expensive either. Consistently good standard of food (I've been maybe 5 times now, on different evenings of the week). They're always busy, but I've always managed to get a table on the spur of the moment, and they have a cute cocktail bar downstairs that you can wait in if needed. Red curry is good, their bean curd is good, and the Tom Ka Hed soup is divine - it has to be tried.

I have been to here many times before and have always thought the service was average but the food was good and good value for money. The last time I had been here was about a year ago until today. The food was the same, very nice but the service was absolutely appalling! when I was being seated I was asked for smoking or non smoking? I asked for smoking...they put me in non smoking, only to realise this when I was asked to put out my cigarette...but it was ok that the table next to me were smoking. It was a busy night so yes I had to get a waiters attention to get another drink but when they came with the drink, they failed to clear any empty glasses. We were never approached by staff unless I waved to them and I was given the bill when it wasn't even requested. I am very disappointed as the food and atmosphere great, its a shame I will not be returning due to the bad service.

I had lunch at thai square on the 2/03/06 and it was absolutely wonderful. The Pad Thai was great and the staff and atmosphere was very relaxing, just what i needed after a busy morning.

Been here several times and to the branch in South Kensington. Service has always been good, food lovely and at a reasonable price.

Best way to describe this place and the other Thai Square on the Minories in E1 is as the Thai food version of Pizza Express - a mid range chain restaurant, competently done. Thai food is particularly suitable for that type of approach IMO and I've always had a good time in here. There's a good buzz/vibe in this place, its fun.

Slow rude service. took us an hour to order our starters. we were not offered drinks menus and when we asked for them. we received two to share between 8 of us. the same thing happened with the food menu. waitresses could not speak english. we chose the set menu which was not clear as to what dishes you had to choose and what dishes came as standard. when we enquiried about this we were told two different things.

when the food arrived it was good. but not good enough for me to return. overpriced. don't bother.

All three courses of our meal were very good quality. A very nice restaurant, only minor complaints are one slightly moody waitress, and the tables are too close together.

Totally agree with the reviews. A great place to go with friends or as a couple. The service is very good and the food is delicious with prices that are definately affordable. Highly recommended.
