I went to Brasserie Roux on Good Friday. The service - the staff and the food were all excellent. We had the special offer menu - 3 courses + wine + coffee + water all for £24 which was fantastic value.
If you want to be gauranteed deliciuos food - flexile attitude, in pleasant, light uplifting surroundings then this is the place to go.
My one critism was the strange tinny music. It didnt fit the place at all and such a difference could be made if the music was tweaked.

Breakfast - 14 Febraury 2006
Sucked into the the restaurant by the comfort that being a Roux restaurant the food would be of a reasonable standard breakfast was a disaster. My colleague summed up in one phase the experience - "This doesn't fell like a £21 breakfast".
The staff were inattentive, the waiter who served at our table surly as if we were imposing on his morning. The food unimaginative and the hot food cold. Even when it was recooked for us by the kitchen it was littlemore than warm.
Overpriced and trading on a name whose franchise is no longer controllable. we would have done better going to the cafe around the corner and having a good honest english fry up.

Before going there, we had a look on london-eating to see some guests comments. And i was surprised after my dinner. Everything went well. The waiters were charming with us and the food really good. I ate the organic smoked salmon and the coq au riestling : gorgeous !
I like the fact that the Brasserie Roux is in the Sofitel, at the end of our dinner we went to the St James Bar for a last drink.
I would definitly come back and recommend the restaurant.

I went to this restaurant with a group of friends from work for a christmas lunch. Before we went there i decided to read some of the comments on this site and i must say that they dont reflect the reality (anymore). The scenery is great especially with the big lampshades and all the french paintings. I was very impressed with the menu as well. some of us had the special christmas menu and the rest opted for the a la carte menu. Myself i had a tomato soup and Roasted Sander and it was excellent. The other thing that was very godd was the service our waiter , Marcel, was a born entertainer and responded to our every need. this was the best christmas lunch i have ever had and i will definitely come back more often to this amazing place

Possibly the worst meal and service I have experienced in London.
Sstaff were smily and not rude - but just too slow.
Food.........less said the better

The food took ages (we were there for 3 hours from order to bill payment), but the staff were excellent. What could have been a disaster (technical difficulties in the kitchen, we were told) was averted by the attentions of our waitress and the maitre d'. I will go back again just to see whether the speed has improved. Oh, and it's incredible value.

Restaurant undeserving of the fine name. Went on a Thursday night and it was deathly quiet, with only a few tables occupied.
Waiter didn't have particularly good manners, coming across as dismissive and stuck up. This was despite him and the other serving staff having extremely poor pronouciation of the menu items. When we asked what the Floating Island was on the menu I heard the most mangled pronouciation of meringue I've ever heard. And a different waiter said they had "goya" sorbet. When we asked what it was, he said it was an exotic fruit. Turned out to be guava.
Food itself was very disappointing. Turbot was bony and not tasty. Chicken was extremely salty. For dessert apple tart was sour and lifeless, and white chocolate mousse was tasteless.
Only redeeming factor is that it's cheaper than other Mayfair restaurants. But you get what you pay for.
Avoid.
