Great Japansese place. Incredible sushi combinations such as maki with truffle etc...The fish quality is great therefore you have to try sashimi salads.
I love this place, it is quite expensive but the sushi is better then at NOBU!!!

Went to Sumosan with friends about a month back on a Friday evening. It was a great atmosphere, we ordered a selection of sushi, sashimi and cod, beef main course dishes. Food on whole is good, not the best for japanese, zuma better however it was pretty good.
I think it is very difficult to get good value for money for Japanese in London so Sumosan is in line with most Japanese restaurants in London with respect to price.

Went to Sumosan with friends on Saturday. I had a California Roll for starter and Crab for main. Fantastic taste and very nice presented. However, service was a disaster.
Hot towels were taken away even before we had used them, plates and glasses were taken away even before we had actually finished the food and drinks. We bought a very nice pinot noir at the cost around £45 and you would assume you were supposed to taste it before having it, but the bottle was just placed on the table and then the waiter was gone. The waiters made the experience quite stressfull for us and we were actually wondering if they would also take away our chairs. We decided to order another bottle of the same wine and this time another waiter gave me the choise of tasting the wine - and brought a champagne glass!!!! We decided not to pay full service which made the waiters very upset.
The waiters work and attitude was an insult to the head chefs fabulous work and though i had a fantastic dinner i'm afraid i will never go there again.

We came here last week and had the most amazing meal. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant. The sushi were so fresh and looked like a work of art.
The chillean seabass is also a must. Unfortunatelly its to expensive to have it us often as I would like but the lunch menu is really good value formoney to satisfy occasional cravings.

Im a regular at Sumosan and i have to say that, in my opinion, its most definitely one of the best restaurants in London. The sushi is aaaaamazing (the albamarle roll is a must)! From the yellowtail to the fondant at the end every minute here is sweet, fun, and interesting because every other night there's someone famous hopping in for some sushi.
Cocktails are not their forte though, so don't hop in for a pre-night-on-the-town drink.
On the whole, Yea its expensive, but so well worth it.

Service: zero - this is because after seating us they did not bring us menus until we asked/demanded them to after 25 minutes. After another 15 minutes we got up and walked out.
Therefore food: zero - this is because we weren't given any.
Also after looking around the restaurant, we weren't the only customers who were having trouble with the service.
We have been to Nobu twice, and went here as an alternative...will stick to Nobu in future.
P.S. Went to Gaucho Grill and had a superb meal.

My boyfriend took me to sumosan last week for the first time and I was really amazed. We had the tasting menu which was delicious if a bit much for me. I loved the lobster salad and the chillean seabass which I thought was better then the blackcod which is quiet hard.
I would like to come back to try the sake tasting menu. The sushi were the best I tried in london so fresh and beautifull and a really big selection of rolls. Our waiter was really friendly and knowledgeble.
If I could afford it I would eat there all the time unfortunatelly its to expensive for me and more of a special occasion place.

Disappointing. Stylish but sterile decor, and no atmosphere. The food was barely appetising and the prices very overblown. I certainly wouldn't go back there.

I've been a regular here since it first opened. I think the sushi is excellent - the Albermarle Roll is a must. Mostly great food although a few average dishes and atmosphere is quite business like. The bar downstairs is quite nice for a few drinks or even to hire out for a small party. The chocolate fondant dessert is my favourite dessert in London.

My partner and I both love Sumosan and have been there many times. It’s easy to get a table only because it’s an undiscovered secret to many. Their seaweed salad is one of my personal favourites. Have also tried the Wagyu Beef which was to die for. Interesting cocktail list and great service. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese.
