Sumosan

My partner and I both love Sumosan and have been there many times. It’s easy to get a table only because it’s an undiscovered secret to many. Their seaweed salad is one of my personal favourites. Have also tried the Wagyu Beef which was to die for. Interesting cocktail list and great service. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese.

When people say Nobu's better for fine Japanese they are right. I've tried both restaurants over the last month, and although both are excellent, Nobu does have a clear edge.

The food at sumosan is enjoyable and varied but seems to lacks a good flavour combinations in some dishes.

A little disapointed with the well lit room, again more business meeting dinner than a romantic night out. A little spoilt but the loud talking men sat at the table only cm's away from ours.

Was invited to Sumosan with my pregnant wife! JUST FANTASTIC. Kiki looked very well after us. The Lobster salad is a must taste! Well done to the chefs.

Went to Sumosan because we needed a table at late notice. Reason you can get a table at late notice is because it's not very good. Which is fine, if you need a table at late notice; or if you live in Dubai and wouldn't know a good restaurant if it hit you in the face. Go to Roka instead. Or even Yo Sushi.

Was there last weekend and I must say i haven't felt this good in a London restaurant for a long while. After a dissapointing experience at Nobu, I thought it was about time i went back to Sumosan. Oh, the cocktails, that black cod, and what about the mouth-watering chocolate fondant. And i don't quite understand what is all that fuss about the "unfriendly staff". The waitress we had for the evening was really cool, and helpful, just the sort of person to make you feel comfortable.

What I honestly can say about Sumosan is:

If your pocket can afford it than there is no other choice.

Hugely disappointing. Service - fair. Presentation - ordinary. Quality of sushi/sashimi - since CIGAR SMOKING is allowed in the dining room - that is all we could taste. Prices - OBSCENE !

Excellent !!! I have not had Japanese food like this since I was In Japan. Absolutly brilliant ,staff were extremly friendly and I will be sure to go back everytime I am in London. Food was second to none with the Sushi at it`s best.Loved it .

I use to come here regularly and havent been back for a while and I dont really understand why.Having eaten there last week I have to say its by far the best sushi in London. I love the new window screens too. Will be back more often again in future. Tried the green tea cheese cake for the first time and have to say its fantastic.
