The Waterway

I've been to the Waterway and couple of times to get some drinks. It's a good place to hang out in the sun and i never ate there so haven't really checked out the service. however, there is something that makes me very suspicious and that is that all the positive reviews sound like advertisements - genuine reviews?

We visited this place in June and all agreed that it was brilliant. Friendly staff, great quality cooking, decent wine list, fantastic location, good value for money etcetc.

I must admit we were particularly lucky with the weather on the day we visited and for an Al fresco 'Fathers Day' family lunch down by the river it was absolutely perfect.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Well what can I say but I have to agree with the majority of reviewers here to say that this place is in a brilliant location but the staff are truly incompentent, rude, and have no concept of customer service.

I came here with the gf for dinner and drinks. Despite the many staff we managed to wait for what seemed an eternity to obtain a menu, another 30mins slipped by before the bottle of wine we ordered arrived and then after deciding that we were going to move on elsewhere had a 30min wait for the bill to turn up.

The staff were simply rude, you would ask for something and they would nod as if to register your request and then serve the next table and completely forget about what you had asked for.

I did not pay the 12.5% optional gratuity based on this rubbish service and was challenged by two of the staff that I had not paid my bill.

It will take a lot for me to go back to this place, fire all the staff and get some new ones!

I went to the waterway after I been away for a months holiday, It was a positive surprise how good the service has become. Lovely cocktails and very professional bar staff.

I strongly recommend this place to anywone who wants to have great night out with beautiful surrondings and exellent service!

What a great find. The food was fab, the service great and the atmosphere second to none. They have the best open terrace I've seen in London (right along side the canal) with a fab BBQ - I had the greatest steak and my girlfriend had seabass. Get there early though - it gets really busy or better still, book. GREAT VALUE TOO!!

This really is one of those hidden gems.

It is such a shame!

The waterway has a great location and a nice decor but the service is so bad it is laughable.

This is very near to my house and on the last three times I have been there the

service has been so bad I have complained. Only the sunny terrace kept me

coming back. The bar staff are surly and there seem to be a lot of them doing

nothing much. I have waited over 20 minutes for table service on three

occasions and have been refused to sit in the restaurant with a group of

friends, even though the restaurant was empty.

It used to be so good, I can only think they have changed managers or owners

to allow such surly, bad tempered staff to treat the customers so badly and

in some cases completely ignore the patrons.

The only redeeming light is the waterway burger, although good luck

getting one to your table.

    It’s in a great location…. Little venice, but, the service and the bar staff were unskilled slow and unfriendly, moreover the manager in the main restaurant was so rude. They over-price everythings and they havd very very bad wine… I’ll never ever come here again!!!

My partner and I went to the Waterway onTuesday lunch time this week (27th March) and ate on the terrace. The food was excellent, I hear they have a new chef, my rib-eye steak being cooked to perection, and the service was pormpt and very polite. When the sun is out this is a great spot and with the BBQ opening soon it will be a great venue for lunch and early evening dinners as it has more of a restaurant vibe now with the improved seating and service.

I havent visited here in awhile and must say that I had a fantastic experience. The waterway has always been a bit up and down in my opinion and lets now hope it stays up!
