I havent visited here in awhile and must say that I had a fantastic experience. The waterway has always been a bit up and down in my opinion and lets now hope it stays up!

what a dissapointment. I had cod which had that distintive ammonia smell of "old fish" and sent it back. Service was OK, but they brought coffees out before dessert and basically an average night out

Had dinner with friends on sat 3rd feb 07. We didn't book but turned up at 7pm to an empty restaurant, asked for a table and after about 5mins and many phonecalls(not sure who they needed to call!) we were told ok but aslong as we were out by 9pm. Service was slow - different waiters kept asking us the same questions and food was terrible. Rib eye steaks were overcooked and the strangest rib eye I've ever seen - I think they were sliced in half as they were so thin! My Mushroom Risotto with truffle oil was oily and slimy and had no seasoning whatever - a bland affair. Desserts were worse though with a creme brulee with a funny taste - couldn't work out what it was ! and the sticky date pudding a cold lump of cake, that tasted floury and with no sugar in it and hardly any sauce on top. And the cheese platter - a few slivers of the cheapest cheeses they could find at £5.50 would definitely have had the highest profit margin for the restaurant. An expensively, overpriced place which I will not go back to and as for the view that people write about - its looking at a view of council estates!! Oh and by 8.45pm we had to ask for the bill 3 times (remember we had to leave by 9pm) and the restaurant was still only half full.

I spent a lot of time there this summer. Very nice trendy spot to enjoy a drink. Food was great but a little bit expensive for what we got. It's right in front of the "Little Venice". A good thing about this restaurant is its situation. It's far way from all the noisy places in central london like picadilly circus or covent garden so, you can easy relax and forget all your stress.

I recently had a meal here. It was absolutely delightful. We sat in the restaurant overlooking the canal. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Service was very good. The food has improved so much. The Haddock I had was to die for, and my girlfriend's Rib Eye was wonderfully cooked. We had a really nice evening and will definitely come back.

What a great venue for a Glass of Red Wine as the Autumn sun decends - The staff were very friendly, the starters - ok. The Burger i had for mains was an absolute howler - it was cold raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. The bun was stale, the chips not properly cooked. I sent it back and they returned the same disgusting lump to me, completely charred. I had my wine for lunch. They did discount the meal - Real pity!

Service is slow and the restaurant space is too tightly packed. We came here for dinner last week and were quite disappointed - the only highlight was some reasonably decent food.

This place blows. The foreign staff are polite but the management are arrogant and rude. The food is overpriced, minimalist and ordinary, to say the least. The Waterway - big on show, low on substance.

This place has continued to develop and improve over the years learning from early criticism about poor service and food. Unfortunately what turned into a chic and friendly neighbourhood hangout - albeit one with one of the best outdoor spaces in London is evolving once more into a professional but soulless money making machine. The extension of the deck area - welcome from a sitting room point of view - has also led to an expansion of the outside restaurant. Always a pleasant place to sit and have dinner in summer they have now introduced the unforgivable London habit of timed seatings - thats right - make sure you are finished your burger by 10pm. They dont mind if you continue to spend money at the bar standing up (what else would you do?) but dont expect to keep your seat and let's face it, you wont get another one at that hour either. A sad case of a place that eventually gets it right in so many ways and then allows greed to take over. Be careful the residents of W9 are fickle - remember "Graze" and "E-bar"? - exactly.

Last night's 'dinner' at The Waterway was a real mixed experience. I booked a table outside on their terrace online from www.london-eating.co.uk, and got a very polite return phone call confirming my booking, and to let me know that we had to be off the table by 9:30. On our way to the restaurant, we were concerned about the weather, so I called ahead. We were very politely told that they would hold a table for us inside, and we could choose when we arrived. I thought that was great service.

The glass of champagne we ordered as an aperitif was obviously flat and had to go back. The grilled squid with chilli was excellent, the rocket and parmesan salad was good, if a little shy with the shaved parmesan. The wine list was broad and well-priced.

We waited about 20 minutes for our starters to be cleared. Then we waited 45 minutes for our main course. When I raised the delay with the Manager, we were told that this was our fault because we had finished our starters late. At 9:15 we had to leave, still without receiving our main courses, to go to our show.

The table of four next to us, arrived after us, finished their starters after us, and received their main courses before us. They very kindly shared their chips with us. The chips were rather good and I'm disappointed not to have been able to try our main courses.

The manager removed the starters from our bill, but I felt that leaving the 12.5% service charge on the bill was rather cheeky.
